It'll look terrible, probably de-value the bike and an ER-5 doesn't go fast enough to warrant anything other than a flyscreen fitting. Trust me, I've blown two up trying to find out how fast they go and the answer is somewhere between 90 & 110 depending on how shagged the motor is.
Whack a flyscreen on it. You'd be amazed the difference one makes to high speed cruising comfort. The fairing kits are horrible ____________________ Please be aware that the above post may be full of complete nonsense.

90 without screen... just bearable
110 with screen is easy but the bike just gives up at 110 and won't go any faster
I took my screen off mines for a while, feels much better without it but I'm not exactly travelling long distances with it, just in and around town... Took a trip to Carlisle down the motorway on a stupidly windy day which was interesting to say the least haha. ____________________ K8 GSXR 1000

I would't bet on it. There will be no mounts for it on the frame (cable ties FTW), but it also wants mounts higher up behind the mirrors and will likely wobble around like <Salma-Hayek-on-a-trampoline.gif> without them. Also, the GPZ has clips-on, the ER5 bars, which might foul it.
You'd be spending a fair proportion of the bike's value to find out. If you want weather protection, I'd just go with a big screen. eBay perspex, a heat gun and some patience will make one as substantial as you like. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Wind blast is fatiguing in proportion to how fast you're going, and 70mph is plenty fast enough to be tiring over long distances. Fairing reduces wind blast. Weather protection is secondary, as you're still going to get wet if it's pissing down with any fairing short of a C1 scooter.
And 70mph isn't your limit even if you keep strictly within the law. You may tour, and typical continent limit on motorways is over 80mph (130kph), and no limits on some parts of the autobahn. ____________________ Bikes: S1000R, SH350; Exes: Vity 125, PS125, YBR125, ER6f, VFR800, Brutale 920, CB600F, SH300x4

While I appreciate the advice, my question was "how can I get a fairing on my ER-5?" Most of the bikes you showed me are out of my powerband for my 2 years restricted license. Of course, I'm not definitely going out to buy a fairing for my ER-5 but I like to know my options. You let me worry about what I'm spending my money on. ____________________ The People's Rider |

Ooop. U mad?
ER-5's make an awesome cheapy hack between £500-700, but don't get too attached & start spending out £££ on it because you'll end up regretting it later on. It's a commuter, not a tourer or a sportsbike.
Have blown up two so far, ridden six of the bloody things and regularily knock about on them as we have a fleet of loaner at work. Use them as a simple workhorse, they're awesome, handle pretty well - but the engines a slug & the cooling systems a bit weak when pushed hard.
Also, if you are reffering to the standard power output, depending on year they produce 48-50bhp so are illegal for both the 33bhp and the new 46bhp restrictions - Hopefully you've got washers in it ____________________ Please be aware that the above post may be full of complete nonsense.

Of course I've put the restrictors in. Do you have to be such a potato about it? I'm just fantasizing here. No need to antagonise just because you think you have some kind of authority over what people should or shouldn't spend their own money on. ____________________ The People's Rider |
