Hi,
after a quick pointer, the dealer delivered my bike but managed to not fit the fairing screws around the battery and the bolts that hold the seat on as they charged the battery and left them out.
They were meant to post them Monday but i haven't heard anything or received anything.
I'm going to get this kit from probolt for the panels
https://www.pro-bolt.com/alloy-fairing-kit-kawasaki-zx6r-07-08-black.html
But i can't see bolts for the seat, does anyone know what size they are and if i need the nuts too or if they screw into the brackets?
Sorry, i don't have any biker friends to help me so you get all my daft questions |

You do realise that OEM kaawasaki bolts to hold a fairing onto a ZX10R work out at nearly £350?
They cost £2-£5 a piece, as do all the little well nuts. I'd be pretty pissed if £££ of parts went missing off my bike... ____________________ Please be aware that the above post may be full of complete nonsense.

Mate, if I were you, I'd go for these
Stainless Steel Bolt kit for P7F-P8F ZX6R's
Aluminium is light but damn do they like to corrode and seize. Any metallurgist will happily tell you the joys of bimetallic corrosion and the differential electro-potential of the metals in the galvanic series.
Assuming your well nuts are bronze or steel, I'd keep them stainless for fairing bolts. You said you liked the idea of taking your fairing bolts off when you need to? Neglect to lube them up (NOT with coppaslip i hasten to add unless you want a little galvanic cell building up) and they'd seize up nicely.
I've included a copy of the galvanic series. Look how anodic aluminium alloys are compared to austenitic stainless steels - most bolts are 304 Type steels, unless they're martensitic.

Keep it stainless and you'll be fine! But then again, I am an anal metallurgist! ____________________ The Tot 2019 Z1000SX - 2007 R1

Thanks...I don't really understand but I take it Aluminium = bad
I'd like black bolts but I don't want them to corrode. I'm no metal expert but can I get gloss or matt black bolts without painting as paint will flake. I only want the ones against the black fairings black.
See the picture below, the two bolt holes infront of the seat are missing and under the seat there are two brackets which the seat bolts onto, these are also missing. I just need these 4 bolts so don't mind replacing them.

The bolts are the same as the 05-06 636.
I'd be pissed if they went walking. The seat bolts are a peculiar fitting bolt. I wouldn't like to bodge that bolt as the body of the bolt widens to take out any vibration which would inevitably lead to seat damage.
Call up bike shop and demand the bolts.

Pretty hard to get hold of cheaply, I'd still persue that the bike should have them and you want them sent out. Let them do the running around.
If you still want to look for them this is the full descrip for your bike.

I'd ride the bike down to them and ask them to put the bolts back in.
You've just paid good money for a bike... you are accepting it with bits missing.

No, you've emailed/called.
You need to ride into the shop. Physically into it. |
