 Posted: 11:15 - 19 Nov 2013 Post subject: Numb fingers |
 |
|
Recently with the weather becoming colder, I've found my fingers have been becoming really really numb. I tried a pair of wooly gloves underneath my motorcycle gloves (which are meant to be thermal winter gloves anyway), still numb. So tried some rubber electrical safety gloves, a little better but still numb.
Had a quick look online for inner/under-gloves but none seem that well insulated around the tips of the fingers, which's where I need them to be (rest of my hands fine). Any ideas? One good thing about this cold weather is my bikes running really well (after it's warmed up), feels like I've got 5 more horsepower or something amazing ____________________ Yamaha MT-03 '08 (crashed)

Yeah I was trying to avoid them, cos they look a bit... & I like to have my hands free for adjusting my visor, or giving choice hand signals to other motorists. ____________________ Yamaha MT-03 '08 (crashed)

You look a cunt on a bike in cold weather with ice cold fingers.
Car, muff, train.
You choose
I had no issues adjusting stuff or using hand with muffs. |

it was -2 this morning, i reckon thats cold enough for muffs, add in an 80mph wind chill and your in Ranulph Fiennes territory ____________________ Hornet 600, CBR600F, 929 blade, 07 R1, R1200GS, 09 Blade, 750 SRAD, ZZR1200, 954 Blade, KTM 990 Adventure, Ducati 749s |

After only an hour or two around SE London my fingers started to feel numb and that's with new, supposedly, waterproof and thermal lined gloves. New full face visor did the trick upstairs but I can't believe I'll get through to March or April without investing in Muffs. Those neoprene marvels will be getting bought in the next two weeks m'thinks. ____________________ Bike: 1993 CB400 SuperFour - 1999 Yamaha FZS600 - DAS passed 7/11/13 - Working my way towards a Yamaha FZ1. |

I haven't actually used muffs to comment on them, but they do sound like the best and easiest option to be honest.
I've never needed them in down to -5 temps so far though, i use a standard pair of winter gloves, then a pair of thermal ski inner gloves underneath, a lot of what they sell as 'thermal gloves' in shops like primark etc aren't really good quality, or aren't even thermal gloves at all.
The other mistake a lot of people make is cramming the under gloves into the main gloves that barely fit, which makes them so tight it restricts the blood flow in no time = cold fingers.
I get by with my usual size but i know a few people have a size-up in winter to accomodate the thermals |
