 |
|
In the light of the Jimmy savile operation yewtree thing it got me thinking.
Do the police really want to hear from "normal" people who were sexually assauted years and years ago or are they just wanting accusations about celebrities??
When I was about 18 (around that age give or take) a work colleague of some advancing years or I thought she was old at the time probably about 50 ish. Well she used to be abit familier with you young lads at the firm, this particular day she collared me in the little staff room. She came over and said something about wanting to teach me a thing or two and then grabbed my crotch and arse.
I was shocked and told her to bugger off which she did and it never happened again though I know she moved on to another young lad who might have been into her for all I know.
So by rights that was a sexual assualt, which going by media reports is similar to what Dave Lee Travis is up in court for at the moment.
If I were to report this would the police take it seriously or would they find an excuse not to do anything? Probably hard to find this woman, I've not seen her for nearly 20 years and don't know if she's dead or alive.
Interesting to think about it though because this type of thing was happening day in day out years ago. Most people like me put it down to experience and are not scared by the event. It was just one of those things I laughed about with mates at the time. Though I did feel abit sick about it on the quiet.
If all the people groped in work or pubs ect over say the last 50 years came forward the police would be inundated and I'm sure the government would step in and some sort of American type statute of limitations would be implemented.
For the record, I believe that those who were raping and seriously assualting people and those messing with kids should be hunted down regardless of time.

Are you serious?
The police, in general, do not want to hear about any crime, unless there's a quick and easy way to sanction it, whether by prosecution or "caution".
Can you imagine what thousands or tens of thousands of ancient, "prove it, copper" cases would do do their stats? Some ACPO Plc ranks might have to briefly downgrade to 5 Series Beemers for a year! ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Groping your secretary was socially acceptable back then I expect It either resulted in a slap or expectation of accompanying on the next business trip and a stay in a posh hotel! ____________________ Triumph Trophy Launch Edition |
