Some of you may have read my shameful thread regarding the wheel bearing extraction on my ER6, which is still an issue but getting there.
Whilst the front end is still off the ground and accessible, I decided to tackle it's achilles heel, the dreaded downpipes. 4 nuts. One looked like it would flake with a prod from a screwdriver 1 looked ok and 2 mediocre. I've recently bought this. I bathed (and I mean bathed) the nuts in plusgas multiple times. Initially applying a little pressure on the trigger, then gently ramping up until it was using all the torque. After a minute or so, it was off. Nut and stud together and all clean and tidy. The next one was similar but nut was starting to round a bit on the edges, but it came out in one. The next one the nut came out solid and without damage, leaving the stud. The final one took a lot more hassle but patience and it came off.
I cannot recommend the Boschmann impact driver enough, no it's not a de-walt-kita thing, but for the price it's pretty powerful. Did the brakes on a Ford Fusion with it yesterday, everything was easy. I did buy proper impact sockets as well (but not expensive ones). Only thing of issue, the batteries are Ni-Cd, which means they can suffer the dreaded memory effect, spares are available though.
This means I can get rid of that dreadful Delkevic exhaust and back to the normal box, for long trips it'll be a lot quieter and a lot less painful. ____________________ Currently: Yamaha DT 125 LC2,Repsol Fireblade, and Bumblebee MSX 125 |
