Have you tried moving out to the country, and buying a shitty 20 year old commuter?
That should lower the premiums. ____________________ If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough. |

A 22 year old on a litre sport bike, in London?
And you're wondering why insurance cost is so high...
Seriously high risk for insurers, chances are if you don't crash it'll get nicked. They go on a risk rating, with things like young riders, high risk area for thefts, desirable bike etc etc increasing the price. You will tick (nearly) every box hence the ludicrous prices. |

If I tell them it's painted bright pink and luminous green will it help with the theft part?
We weren't expecting a few hundred, of course, around £1,500-£2,000 (on a litre brand new not a 600) but over 6 grand is insane that's over half the fucking bike itself. I must go and see what a 1199 or HP4 would cost me.
(Obviously I would not paint it pink and green and when they start a search for a pink and green Fireblade, etc I would just tell them they probably re-painted it back to the normal colour ) ____________________ KTM RC390 -- Kawa ER6f -- Yam YZF R125 -- Yam YBR 125

Yeah I am in one of them. Had this same problem when they wanted a grand for a YBR.
Btw, for license held length do I put 0 years ('A' license only) or 2 years (including A2 license). Surely if I put more than 0 they would be like what is going on that's impossible you liar. ____________________ KTM RC390 -- Kawa ER6f -- Yam YZF R125 -- Yam YBR 125 |

Depends on who's asking and exactly what they ask.
If the insurer distinguishes between different categories (A1, A2, A) then 0 years.
If they only distinguish between provisional and "full" and 0 vs 2 years makes a significant difference to the premium, then I'd go with 2, but be prepared to argue the toss up to and beyond the ombudsman.
Agree not to take a pillion, try increasing the mileage, try it with and without security (my quote went up by 1/3rd with an Almax and Squire listed).
And do you really need a new litre bike? Planning a lot of track racing? Because I doubt you'll experience any significant difference on a UK public road with a ten year old example. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
