men folk (an err lady folk) lend me your ears....

got my bandit back tonight from the menders who has said he cleaned the carbs - jets were blocked

but it isnt firing on the far right hand side cylinder

he said he tried to trim the lead but its had no change

so reckons it might be the coil?

plug seems to be firing when removed from cylinder, can i swap the coils over from the other side?

can you test a coil?

cheers all

right..

a bit of an update

just had a poke around for the first time since bring the bike back home

the bike initially started but sounded lumpy, it seems to be running on only 2 cylinders (1 & 2) as these were the only headers that were hot to touch

i pulled the plugs from 3 & 4, both had blue sparks

my guess is fuel ?

but then im also getting a back fire so fuel must be getting through - if i undue the drain screws on the carbs that arnt firing could that show anything?

after the bike had (kinda of) run for a few mins, i pulled the plugs on 1 & 2 an they were pretty black - choke was on though 3 & 4 plugs are clean an dry

the coils iirc should have one going to 1-4 and the other to 2-3, are yours set up this way?

That would be my first guess too.

Drain screws on the bottom will reveal if fuel is getting to the carbs.
They'd have to be real dirty to not reach them though.

Checking if the plugs are wet will tell you if the fuel makes it further.

I'd take the carbs apart yourself, real simple on the bandit.

Ask if you need help as I only done mine last week.

Your plug leads are wrong. Swap 3 and 4 over.

+1 Thumbs Up

Would that explain the backfire as it sparks at the top of the exhaust stroke? Or just F/A mixture in the hot exhaust?
