Quote:
Maria Miller has resigned as culture secretary, Downing Street has said, following a row over her expenses.

In a letter to the prime minister, she said the controversy "has become a distraction from the vital work this government is doing".

David Cameron said he was "sorry" to receive the letter, but accepted her decision.

Mrs Miller was cleared of funding a home for her parents at taxpayers' expense, but was told to repay £5,800.

I'm surprised they didn't just brass neck it and give it the old "How could the media be so insensitive as to pursue the blatant whitewashing of an egregious example of corruption in public office at this time of national mourning for Princess Peaches?"

A very valuable event in going to show how Cameron continues to be a corrupt scumbag himself.

She has resigned from the cabinet, she still has her, porcine, snout in the trough, as an MP!
She has to pay back 4.5k of the 50k she stole, that's 44k profit.
She has sold the house in question and, if the meeja is to believed, made a million profit on that!

But hey, who gives a fcuk, it's only money from the public coffers.
We're all in it together, in case you'd forgorren! Rolling Eyes

Her £17k pay-off is supposedly being donated to charity.

David Cameron has defended the reputation of Parliament after Maria Miller's resignation, saying it is full of "good and honest" MPs. Laughing

Help stop repeat offenders - don't re-electing them. Thumbs Up

There are two types of money:
1. Your money

Unless you are a politician then its:

1: My money
2: your money which is also my money.

Poor Maria having to resign from the cabinet because of public outcry, media pressure and opposition party pressure. Note she did not retire because she was a thieving benefit cheat, which when it all boils down to simple terms, is what she is. Taxpayers money pays their wages and their expenses. That makes them nothing more than benefit claimants.

Do I feel sorry for her? Yeah, I mean it must be hard when she sits at home in her barn and laments on how she got caught screwing up.

Yeah, really sorry for her when I see her barn and her 3 car garage. Middle Finger Middle Finger

Seems like Miller's delayed resignation might be to cover up this damning report on Universal Credit Implementation / the DWP.

IMO it's just a bigger version of being a benefit cheat.

Dole scum (who actively wish to remain on it, not genuine folk) that claim multiple benefits for being cum buckets spent my money on drugs and tenants and she is just as bad.

In my meagre 39 years on this planet I have known a few families that have had to have a job and claim benefits just to survive. It happens. It will always happen.

That is a rather sweeping definition of benefit claimant. Guess that includes every soldier, sailor, nurse and doctor. .......nice one

Yes it does.

The question is how many such people we can support, and whether what they achieve justifies the money spent on them.

You can get homepathy on the NHS, for example.

She stole - end of story.

If I stole 5000 I would get at least a suspended prison sentence. If I stole 45000 I expect I'd go to jail.

She doesn't even have to give it back. Evil or Very Mad

She should have been prosecuted.
