Hi guys, one of my firsts posts here, and I'm in my first month of riding with those charming loser plates.

I have a '01 CG125 I picked up for £700, and I am having a slight issue at the moment;

My right rear indicator has stopped working, well, it works intermittently, I know the fault, however I can not access the cables to plug them back in due to a pair of nuts that are insanely tight and very much inaccessible with my set of tools.

In the process of trying to trouble shoot my fault, I thought that the cable running to the indicator itself was broken, as when bent in a certain way it would resume flashing. In my erroneous haste, I trimmed the wires down a touch to see if I was able to fix it that way. That didn't help, so I decided to take the seat off and get at the rear part of the loom, I suppose, where the bunch of cables split off for the rear lights. I am able to see that a connector has become disconnected, and it simply needs to be plugged back in, as I stated above, however, I am unable to access it.

I have come to the conclusion that I'll drop it off at a garage tomorrow during work. I would like to know the price I should be expecting to pay. Considering I know the fault, it shouldn't be too costly? I was able to take the seat and such off in a matter of 5-10 minutes, I just became unstuck at the crazily tight nuts. As far as I am aware, the labour cost should be less than an hour and parts, if any should be a matter of a few pounds. Am I bang on with this, or should I prepare to part with more money?

Oooh dunno
depends on the garage
I'm told most garages round here charge about £40 an hour and
some may have a minimum charge of say 1 hour.

Also, dont assume its a 10 minute job
I've seen very few 10 minute jobs
I'd suggest you do it yourself even if it means buying a few tools
you'll gain experience and confidence

If it was insanely tight as you say, I'd even consider laying in some 2 core cable
to bridge the inaccessible part to have fully working flashers
until I could solve the siezed nuts/access problem

It would probably cost less to buy an electric drill/angle grinder and remove the offending nuts yourself.

In my experience with garages, prepare to part with more money. However I often find they have no interest in working on budget 125's, chinese bikes and particually zero interest - even on a CBR6 - if the fault has already been found.

Took it in as it was due an mot anyway, they fixed my problem, got home and found I have a sprocket set buried in my shed. The joy....

failed MOT on a few things, aroubd half of which I have resolved.

on the upshot, I would have rideen it until MOT is up then checked it in at the end of the month, thanfully i have time to sort everything before sending it back. So that was a blessing.

thanks for your help though guys.

Fyi their rate was 40 per hour, however they bill in 30 min segments. My jobby only took them 30 and no parts or billable parts at least.

they are a motorcycle garage only with some mean looking track bikes in there.
