I've got an oil leak, I've not taken farings off before but thinking taking the belly pan off and cleaning it and having a look will let me see what the issue is.
I'm not going to have time to do all this at once, would there be any issues taking the belly pan off and using the bike for motorway commuting for a few days before putting it back on? ____________________ Looking to pass your CBT / Bike tests in Bury Lancashire? try www.focusridertraining.co.uk Would recommend.

Should be fine but at high speed (like near the top speed fo the bike, into three figures) my GPZ 500 used to get quite a nasty little speed weave if you left the belly pan off. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. Rode my Blackbird with no mirrors, no fairing lowers and a cracked screen and upper nose cone for about a week diagnosing charging faults and oil leaks.
Didn't get pulled at all, fairly good going. Wind on motorways is definitely noticeable but probably won't affect you |

wind catching the bike in an odd way I'm a bit worried about as some of my commute is very exposed / gusty
one part is over the manchester ship canal on a high motorway bridge, the other the motorway weaves up a valley and wind batters around it at random.
Hadn't thought of the potential sharp items exposed, guess it's judging if it's ok once the belly pan is off. ____________________ Looking to pass your CBT / Bike tests in Bury Lancashire? try www.focusridertraining.co.uk Would recommend.

Unless there's an actual sharp projection like a pointy fairing bracket they won't bother you. Bikes have footpegs and levers sticking out after all. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

Just tried to take the crash bungs off to then take the fairing off but the bolt (tis the engine bolt) just spins and isn't having any of it and I can't see how to get a spanner in behind to hold the nut.
garage will have to do it. ____________________ Looking to pass your CBT / Bike tests in Bury Lancashire? try www.focusridertraining.co.uk Would recommend.

My FZ750 has had the fairings off for years and was even ridden with no mirrors at all so I wouldn't worry about it. It's gone from something like this ...

to this ...

Be prepared to be windswept on a motorway at full speed though. ____________________ Current - Harley Davidson FXDB Street Bob | Harley Davidson FLTR Road Glide | Harley Davidson Road King
