I had an 03 Tuono for too short a period.

The only thing i'm aware of is a problem with a couple of connectors burning out.

The bike was superb and was gutted to see it go, will definitely get another Aprilia.

Also the sound was unbelievable, I would definitely go for it.

Thumbs Up

If you do get it, be careful with the throttle, it will wheelie for fun in 1st, 2nd and 3rd if the front sprocket has been down geared.

Wave2k on here had one (not sure if it was a factory and it was an awful purple colour though) so might be worth PM'ing him. I have an older version of the same engine and have ridden older RSV's.

As much as I like it a 600 would be just as quick and a hell of a lot easier to ride for me. So if you want it as a toy then go for a Jap 6 or a Trumpet 675. My bike (Falco) has been reliable but it needs keeping on top of maintenance more than a Jap bike, and it doesnt quite stand up to the weather as good. THis could be due to it's age though.

Sorry not very helful at all. Try RSVR.net for good info.

Agreed on the why apart from this bit. It's a dry sump iirc on the RSVR.

Rode a few as wanted one a few years back, very tall so if you are short you might struggle, I found the fuel injection pretty jerky and the side stand is crap - the angle means it can fall over easy.

Ah, I see, dry pan, separate tank and cooler. Nicer set up I suppose but how does it feed the cylinders exactly? I'd be wary of anything other than an enduro with wheelies, prolonged anyway.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dry_sump

Enduros are easier to wheelie, sports bikes are a pain as the riding position makes it harder, IMO.

I've had a few RSVs but all them were gen 1 which is different to the one you're looking at. From being on the RSV forums the owners seem to like them. IIRC the early gen 2s (roughly 04, 05 era) had to have a replacement swing arm, and some of the clocks reset their mileage to 0.

bought mine back in January, starting to ride it now with the better weather coming in, and I love it..

Your right about the side stand and the swingarm... the swinger can be replaced under warranty if not already done so and the side stand on mine is being replaced for a fireblade one which is a direct replacement! and a common mod among owners.

As for it being Jerky make sure the bike is on the correct fuel map.. if it has race pipes it should be on Map 2 and standard pipes, map 1. Another common mod to correct things is changing the gearing on the sprockets.. owners seem to love it.

Its not for everyone but I certainly have no regrets .. but everyone is diffrent Thumbs Up

basically this.

but the noise and torque makes up for that.

tank range is shit ~90 miles if your giving it some.
