The ones I read mostly are:
Bike
Ride
And some other one I can't remember the name of.
But Bike is love, black neckwarmer is so snug. ____________________ 04 Suzuki GSX-R 600 K4 - Sex on wheels :>

TWO, that is the other one.
They are all good reading IMO, and some fun freebies occasionally.

Bike and RiDE are ok IMO, TWO is full of stuff that I don't read about BSB and scooters. TWO seems to me to be for the "Fashionable biker" not someone who is really into bikes IMO.
Its just a feeling I get when I read the mag of course.
RiDE can feel a little patronising at times but I have never found Bike to have a tone that I don't like.
Again performance bikes is good, but like the "newbie" feeling you get sometimes from RiDE, you have to ignore the hooligan/tits and ass element in it. They do occasionally do some really funny stuff like when they tested the saying "This bike handles like its on rails". They took the tyres off of a thundercat and proceeded to try and ride it along a railway line!
Fast Bikes and Superbike... Well I find both pretty dull. They spend all of their editorial column space bitching at each other and they don't seem to give a balanced opinion of anything unless its the latest litre supersports bike/stickiest tyre/whatever. Also the editor of Superbike had hardly ridden a motorbike before he got the job, and there are questions as to wether the people at fast bikes can ride or not too... but then, thats what I get for reading all of the bitching in the editorials!
UBG (used bike guide) is good, but a lot of the articles come across as amateurish compared to the bigger magazines, and I have noticed a few technical mistakes in some of them. The content is good though, and is always different from the run of the mill bike mags. The secondhand bike information is comprehensive too.
Streetfighters - Not read this one, but it looks like another hooligan tits and ass bike mag - except without the sportsbikes.
BSH (Back Street Heroes) Again, not read it, but it has the obligatory naked lady in the centre. Its mainly about customs as far as I can tell.
Classic Bike - not read this one either, but its from the same stable as Bike and RiDE, so it will be respectable and knowledgeable.
MCN (Motorcycle News): This one gets slated a lot as being a big behemoth and popular, but it sometimes talks crap. I wouldn't personally say that was true, but I often find myself buying it and then finding out that I have read all of the interesting bits in five minutes. Occasionally they will have a gem of an article, but on the whole I only get it if there is stuff in it about Triumphs or if I'm very bored.
Apologies for the monster post. ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade
Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another. |

I used to quite like MSL (Motorcycle Sport and Leisure)
It's known for being for the older person, but I kinda liked it, decent reviews, the concentrated on reliability and stuff like that instead of how fast can this thing go etc.
Another one I read alot is Classic and Motorcycle Mechanics, I like old Jap bikes and this Mag seems to cater for quite abit of it, its quite good too how they have sections on how to overhall brakes and stuff, even though there on "classics" there quite relevent to some modern stuff too. !
I also find UBG a good read to when I'm on the look out for a new bike and junes issue also helped me make my mind up with buying my new bike (a ZZR600).

RiDe really informative on the whole, but far too short, you can read most copies cover to cover in an hour, and their reviews tend to be a bit brief
but the "bike" is too detailed so i dont really know what the ideal is, i dont buy bike, cos its full of shit i dont want to read, and i dislike the writing styles
T.W.O mag i always buy, i've bought every copy since it came out in Jan 2002, probly one of the best reads, with a decent section on bike racing as well, also strikes me as the best put together magazine with a high quality feel from it, and decent interesting photo's
used bike guide, i finally found somewhere that sells it (smiths at london waterloo station) and i was quite impressed with that, its a useful size as well, and focuses on more stuff you wouldnt read in the other bike mags
the rest like PB, superbike, and FB i all find immature and annoying ____________________ So in other words, he stopped you for being flagrantly in posession of a motorcycle in direct contravention of the Hippies, Darkies and People Whose Face I Don't Like The Look of (Police Powers) Act. 1976 |
