I got a riveter off ebay for about 19 quid, mates got the same one and has used it on two chains without problems.

IIRC C&S fitting quotes I got in Bristol were around 60 quid, so fair saving to be had if you reckon you can do it yourself. |

Can check most yourself against that I expect. Don't forget obvious like bulbs/reflector on plate etc.
Yeah it is relatively easy, just go slow on the riveting and have a good breaker bar ready to get the front sprocket off - lots of videos on youtube. Been needing to do mine ages, long overdue but i keep putting it off |

Don't know what I was worried about with the MOT. Popped round earlier and they had a slot free at half one. Passed with no advisories.
Ordered chain & sprockets, chain tool and vacuum gauges but no HUGE rush to do it, though I'm sure I will. It appears to be the time to invest in a torque wrench finally though. ____________________ 2007 Versys 650 2001 Yamaha XJ600S Diversion

I just had my mistress in for her MOT.
It passed but with three advisories:
1) Scorched rear brake disk
...
2) Chain slightly too tight
3) Rear wheel slightly misaligned
The last two was because the chain was too loose and I was in a rush so obviously never did it properly ____________________ My Bikes: Lifan Beat 125cc '11 -> Suzuki B120P '76 -> Suzuki EN 125-2A '08 -> Honda CG 125 '04 -> Honda CB600F Hornet '98 -> Kawasaki ZZR 600 '99 -> Kawasaki GPZ 500S '95 (Current)
Theory test passed - 09/02/2012 >>>> Module 1 passed 24/07/2012 >>>> Module 2 passed 24/10/2012 |
