Hello,

I have my mod 1 test soon then hopefully book mod 2 after that,

Due to the 46.6 bhp restriction i don't see the point in owning something like an Sv650 which i know i would be to tempted to de-restrict so i would rather buy something which was within the limit.

I have narrowed it down to the KTM Duke 390 as i know a quick software remap takes the power down 1.5 bhp (est) which makes it legal, standard the power is below but as its a light bike it falls out of the power to weight slightly.

First of all if i put an exhaust on this as i probably would eventually then am i right in saying that this will take it just over the restricted power making it illegal if police was to stop me and for it to be Dyno'd (paranoid i know!) also if i don't get the software remap making it slightly over the limit then is there some leeway with the power if its slightly over.

Honestly? It's so marginal that I'd not bother.

I get that you want to be legal, but the thing is, "net power output" is a fantasy number to begin with. You could get it restricted, then get it dynod at 3 different places and be given 3 different results for the estimated power at the crank. Heck, they'll differ depending on the fuel, altitude and temperature.

Your call.

I wouldn't bother. I got a big 1150cc bike restricted as I assumed that the first thing they will ask if I got pulled over is if it is restricted. Haven't been stopped once. Rolling Eyes

Depends on your budget, what style you want, etc. But take a look at the KTM RC390. Will be the class/A2 license leader in my opinion.
