Watching qualifying that I taped earlier.
Mechanic got Jorge rear wheel in.
Bolt through.
other spanner monkey gets nut on.
torque wrench on it.
the thing visibly clicked. Yet he pulled it up a bit more. Making it tighter.

sooooooo

Torque wrench. .... or a good yank with a socket set..

Torque wrench. The rear wheel spindle isn't torque sensitive. Just need to make sure it doesn't come undone.

Just did. Interesting.

Clears it up for me.

Tho why not just change the torque for the item ?

Being a coachbuilder, I was always taught when it tightens , a wee nip more and it is just right.

So pretty much the same as that then.

Mmmm!

Just fitted some R&G carah protectors to my FZ1. They recommend no more than 20n/m as it replaces an engine mounting bolt.

I don't have a torque wrench & I made sure it was tight (applying a touch of thread retaining compund - NOT Threadlock!!)

I'm not sure if I've over done it or not as the crash protector is 'slightly' molded to the frame. Embarassed

Any ideas? Smile

IIRC R&G also give you non-torque values. So When the compression washer touches + a quarter turn or something.
