I bought a new helmet a few weeks ago, the first "premium" one I've owned. It came with a pinlock insert, which was fantastic to start with. However it's now started getting condensation around the bottom between the pinlock and the visor. That's actually worse than condensation on the visor itself, at least that clears pretty quickly if you crack it open. Because this stuff is between the two layers, it just hangs around for ages and I end up riding around with my visor fully open.

Is there some sort of cleaning or maintenance I'm supposed to be doing on the insert to stop this happening? I love the concept of them but if I can't sort this out I think it's going in the bin.

Thanks,

Steve.

No, they shouldn't need anything that quickly. Have you installed it correctly? Sounds like there's a gap around the edge somewhere...

Sounds like it is not sitting correctly (incorrectly fitted) to me.

Personally, I'd remove the insert, clean both insert and visor accordingly and then refit correctly.

As far as i understand it, the pins on the visor ar eccentric and can be turned to allow adjustment to get the fit tight and correct, might be worth checking this to make sure the seal is tight against the visor all around and adjust accordingly

As said above, the manual for these says the actual pin pegs are cams.
You should be able to rotate these slightly to ensure the inner pinlock seals against the outer visor.

Careful mind you as my new Shark helmet came with pinlock preinstalled and as said most of the time you can rotate them on these helmets it is glued into the visor..

If you can't make a good seal take it back if its in warranty or apply vaseline to make a seal - this worked a treat for my DIY fitting kit.

FYI - the pinlock seal on my C3 visors has never been perfect, and I've been through 3 sets of visors now.

This is what was causing my issue. Rotated the cams 180 degrees and now sits flush.
