I recently got a YBR 125 and one of the first things I've noticed is that even when the clutch is in, the bike loses speed much faster than all the cars I have driven, at all speeds.

I've had a peek and the front brake is fine (it actually has more freeplay in the handle than I'd like. I'm not sure about the rear brake. The chain is just within stretch, I am replacing it and the sprockets next week.

Is this normal for a bike?

When you pull the clutch in, only thing keeping you moving is momentum.
That is Mass times Velocity.
How much did the cars you have driven weigh?
How much does your YBR weigh?
Right, so at 30 mph your 100Kg motorcycle has 10th the Momentum as your 1000+Kg car.
This means that even if it has the same roilling resistance... its going to 'waste' its momentum in 10th the distance.
It wont... 'cos it actually has a damn site LESS rolling resistance...
BUT, it has MUCH Less MOMENTUM than it has less rolling resistance.
Make sense?

Its cos its LIGHTER... Force = Mass x Acceleration, so whatever force acts upon it, or stops acting on it, is going to have greater effect.

Rolling resistance is a drop in the ocean compared to air resistance on a bike, you're essentially a large sail.

I presume you have spun the rear wheel when it is up on the stand ?
My rear brake began to stick on over the winter. Was just a bit corrosion on the pin that twists and moves the pads.

Check your tyre pressures as well. You won't believe how flat a bike tyre can get before you notice it.

It probably is just because its a bike. I remember my first car driving lesson. I couldn't work out why it kept moving so fast when I took my foot off the gas. Cars also have less engine braking (not that its relevant to your question)

Yep, bikes have huge drag factors. If I round the bend at the top of a certain road at 40mph in my van I know I can then roll all the way home in neutral, roughly a mile. On a bike I get a 2-300 yards and that's it.

Yup, it pushes fine and the rear wheel spins without any sticking points. I will check how freely exactly but I am pleased to see this doesn't surprise anyone.
