There is strong evidence (which for reasons of common sense I won't describe on a public forum) that someone has tried to steal my bike
This probably means that it is time to get an Almax set up. Is Almax really the best brand? or are there others? I did have a look a an Oxford nemesis at my local shop, but it was priced a bit steep.
Any ideas would be appreciated ____________________ Hyosung GT650R |

For reasons of common sense, you should post everything on this public forum.
Almax or Pragmasis are approximately eleventy billion times better than whatever overpriced Oxford chain you've seen. |

Sufficient is relative. I'd expect a ground anchor to be more secure but that doesn't mean it's going to make your bike unstealable.
I'd say go for the ground anchor if you can. A good chain and ground anchor is an investment that you'll be able to use with your future bikes and the cost of the ground anchor is probably less than what you'd end up paying in increased insurance prices if your bike was nicked. |

As an idea, I use a gorilla lock. There are some negatives as well as positives about this (400 quid) but the reason I use it is because as soon as I enter my driveway, my bike is locked. I don't fiddle with anything or am tempted to leave it out - it is just locked.
The second reason is that the tools required to bust it open are not 'typical.' If you had the right tools, I think it would be possible to get through but it stood up to the local scrote test and standard tools won't do it.
For me, the deciding factor was that it locked my bike every time I arrived and it is just like my car. I arrive, it is locked and I don't even have to think about it. ____________________ FZR400 (blown engine), ZXR750 (blown engine), ZX6R (accident), CBR600 which had engine issues after which I learned to change gear..., CBR900, CBR924 (stolen), CB600, CB1300 (everything blew up), BMW K1300GT (written off, hit from rear while stationary), Bandit 1250 for a couple of months, Triumph Sprint ST 1050 (nicked) and somewhere in there, I wrote off a Ducati 748 at Cadwell. |

Hi,
thanks for the pic.(hadnt tried google yet, this was quicker )
looks like a pretty heavy duty piece of kit, dunno if its worth 400 quid though + its a bit ugly for the front of my house.
my best mates a blacksmith so he rigged me up an anchor type thing years ago + it still does its job.
not too much bike theft around here, thankfully,
cheers,
GAZ
er.....hold on.... that thing is bolted to the ground/house with mahoosive bolts right? (with security heads)

I like the look of that gorilla lock but don't think a nice bike would last long parked in front of a house with just that on. They would be great around town though, pull up in a bike bay slot £1 in and away you go, like a swimming baths locker, save taking a chain to town/work |

I'll probably be ordering an Almax and lock tomorrow then…Just one thing…if its so huge, how will I get to through the frame on my bike? I can only just find a bit big enough to get my Oxford cheese chain through ____________________ Hyosung GT650R |
