so, with the weather being nice yesterday decided to go on an extended trip home along motorways an stuff (never been on one before on a bike),
my bike has no fairings/ screen or nowt
at 70 ish i was struggling to hold on, basically getting battered by the wind, I was basically lying on the tank with my face right next to the clocks
below 70 it was reet.
the bike did come with a screen (in a box of bits n' bobs) do they make that much of a difference or do i just need the mtfu? |

The screen can make the air hit you in the chest less. It'll hit you in the head though
At illegal speeds I can tuck in behind all my fairings and it's quite pleasant, no noise, no wind buffeting ... but it's not too comfortable being 6ft 2 crouching over the little zzr6.
Put it on and give it a go and see how it works for you. ____________________ I'm Sam; Northern, Ginger, Lover

It's awesome, joys of having a bike
Does sound to me like a lack of neck muscles, or a lid that isn't very good at speed.
I have a shark vision r which wasn't too bad, apparently the speed r is a lot better as it is designed for naked bikes so will probably be a lot better ____________________ Bandit 600 - deaded |

I had both and I can say, naked is always better, if you keep your head down at speed.
On the zxr there are some positions where it's alright, but you don't get there quite often and there are so much turbulences around the fairings. It'd might get better when I get more used to the bike, but so far it's not so good. The CB-1 had 2 positions, upright and chin on the tank, both worked well. ____________________ '87 Honda XBR 500, '96 Kawasaki ZX7R P1, '90 Honda CB-1, '88 Kawasaki GPz550, MZ 150 ETZ

I found 130kph was reaching the upper limit for comfortable motorway cruising on the ER6f - that's 80mph on a faired bike, but with a fairly upright seating position and a not terribly effective fairing.
But the difference is night and day when compared with my VFR's screen. I can cruise happily enough at 200kph (~125 mph) on it.
On my scooter, flat out on the motorway (~80mph), the wind does get to be a bit much after an hour or two - but that's bolt upright, and no wind protection at all from much above bellybutton height.
Most of my motorway miles are covering distance when touring, not in this country. ____________________ Bikes: S1000R, SH350; Exes: Vity 125, PS125, YBR125, ER6f, VFR800, Brutale 920, CB600F, SH300x4
