got an 03 dtr about a month ago.

bike kicks over 1st kick with the choke on but idles at around 5000 revs, turn the choke of and it dies unless i rev the knackers off it.

1st off i stripped the carb and cleaned it all out, checked the jets all clean, tried adjusting the needle all ways. fiddle mixture srew and makes no diffrence.

checked air filter and all pipes are nipped up nicely not sucking in air anywhere.
checked the reeds also there fine.

fitted a new iridium sparkplug

then bit the bullet and bought a new carb off ebay and fitted it today, i put a 260 main jet in the new carb old one was 210 as i heard people saying when running full dep system i should change jets.

bike still no different, kicks over with the choke on idles at 5000 then dies soon as choke comes off.

now have the bike stripped down in my fathers garage and where at a loss at what to do next.

any help would be great.
thanks

How many miles has it done?

Did it work fine when you bought it?

cant remember exacly what the mileage is would have to have a look tomorrow.
when i 1st bought it i managed to ride it around the doors a bit but it would cut out as soon as i came to a junction unless i sat revving the knackers off it to keep it ticking over.

Possibly just new rings (or piston & rings). You won't know until you lift the barrel (cylinder) off.

And you didn't get a refund? Thinking Or is this the first ride after the purchase?
