Anyone on this scheme?

I think I have been automatically put on this scheme - probably many years ago as I have nearly 50,000 points! I am getting harassed by email and junk mail to redeem my points ...

It seems you are essentially getting 0.5% cash back* - sadly not in actual useful cash/credit ... but nevertheless, 0.5% you can spend again.

So before I actually sign up to redeem my points, what is the catch? is it really money back or are there any monthly charges as soon as I redeem?

I can imagine a situation where one gets say £2/month from the scheme in yourpoints equivalent money, yet get charged £5/month to be on the scheme ... so essentially getting taxed £3/month to turn your real money into less useful vouchers ... RBS gets richer - knobby your points person gets poorer!

Not that I am a born sceptic or anything ....

*1p for every £2 spent - big wow!

IMO the only cash back card on the market worth getting is Santander 123 credit cards. American express used to be great now their rates are worse than Santander (I get 3% on fuel etc) plus no-one accepts American express!

I am on this scheme and have been for a few years. No catches just redeem your points for whatever you fancy from the website. I go for Sainsbury's vouchers normally and stock up on booze. Cool

Loads of people accept American Express. I have "saved"* well over £100,000 using points from Amex for fully flexible business and first class plane tickets for me and my family over the past 7 years.

* I wouldn't have bought them if I was actually paying my own cash.
