Hello all Very Happy

So bought a drz 400 the otherr day and the swing arm bolt has damage on the first few threads of the bolt the threads on the nut look fine

The guy said he tried bash the swing arm bolt out it wouldn't budge and he ended up damaging the threads Thumbs Down

Any one have any ideas how to sort the damaged threads out?

I was thinking dremel the knackered threads but i could end up making it worse?

Or even a tap and die set, anyone know what size die could be used on the threads

Thanks for the help

You could try repairing the threads with a die but how much is a new bolt? By the sounds of it the bolt has seized in there which is common on off road bikes. If you need to whack it some more screw the nut on the end to protect the threads and hammer on to that.

Try and get it out and lube everything up, make it part of the maintenance schedule.

As above, you may get away with running a die over it, I'd take a complete stab in the dark at it being an M10 or M12, based on nothing but educated guesswork.

Your profile doesn't mention your location but if you are anywhere near London I have a huge selection of Die's here to save you buying one.
