Hi all,

I recently bought a Honda CBF 125cc from a private seller. The bike looks and drives great except for a minor issue that has popped up recently.

The indicators seem to malfunction - they stay on constantly wihtout blinking the first time I turn them on. I need to redo the operation for the indicator to flash. This happens abruptly for both left and right indicators.

I understand that it isn't an issue with the fuse - they wouldn't work at all if the fuse blew up.

Is the relay broken? - If so, why do the indicators flash the second time I try them.

The seller told me that the bike has been left in the garage and not used in the past few months. That leaves me to think it is probably a switch related issue. I am going to spray WD-40 and see if that helps.

Have you got anything to say/add?

Kind regards,
Naga

Sounds like the relay, yes. They're cheap generic parts, you just need to find out what shape your connector is and whether it's got two or three pins (well, blades) on it and buy a generic one to suit from eBay or a factors. You can even get them in Halfrauds if you want to get gouged for convenience.

I carefully sprayed WD-40 into the switch and made sure it isn't a dry connection issue.

I have also tried spraying WD-40 into the connector into which the relay units plug into to make sure a rusty joint wasn't causing the issue, but that didn't really help.

I have removed the relay and I guess it is broken. Ordered a spare part from ebay - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390592873247?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I hope this solves the issue. Will post an update on tuesday.
