i had a honda vfr nc30 for almost 2 years was fun at the time and handled great at the time.
but i would never get another
i much prefered my kawasaki zxr 400
the nc30 was a nightmare for anyting more than 40 miles and it had no low fuel light warning.
everything changed for the better when i got a GSXR 600 K1 ____________________ Elen sila lummen omentielvo! |

dunno were you are shopping for spare, I have had no issues with them, I can even get v-valve engines complete for around £200 (heck I have 3 v-valve heads under my bed). the only time I had starting issues is when the old battery was giving up the ghost.
honestly, I don't think the bike is the issue here, but the people who make use of them and then abuse them beyond reasonable expectations. Mine get red lined most days its ridden and I have more the couple of occasions out running various 600cc machines on the back roads, this includes it 600cc brother, hornets, fazors and a likes.
Having seen how you get through bikes paddy, I am not at all surprised you didn't get on with the little thing, heck you had issue with a gs500 iirc, I bike that I owned for 5 years and the biggest issue I had was the rear damper giving up, and how many motors did you go through. to be honest I am not sure you are the best person to be giving advice on what a good bike is, not only do you not keep a machine long enough to develop a decent opinion of, but you also seem to be able to destroy and bodge the thing to high hell and back and then blame the bike for your incompetence in maintaining the thing correctly.
so that you understand the reason why people love the little 400s, its because you have to understand it and actually ride it. most bikes feel a little surgical, dethatched from the rider and road. I can always feel when I am getting close to the limit with a little twitch or a slight drifty feeling, it a bike that tells you what is going on, something that is missing from most machines. ____________________ Current rides - 2016 Triumph Street Triple Rx, 1994 Suzuki Bandit 400 VM, TGB 204 Classic 125cc

lol, your funny paddy, telling me my argument is invalid is like saying your argument is invalid, heck all arguments are invalid.
also, if take a so called insult that was written on the internet other than a bunch of text that can be blatantly ignored than you really need to grow the fuck up you little pathetic girl. this is the fucking internet not a school play ground.
the fact you have whole thread dedicated to bodging speaks for itself. doesn't matter if you keep the machine you bodged or not, a bodge is still a bodge until it is repaired correctly.
further too all of that, you still have basically not given much a reason not to have one beyond a personal preference and you inability to see beyond you own self absorbent opinions. there will always be a better bike, if you got the money lay it out on a desmo or something, pretty sure you will be able to find fault with that too even at its extreme cost. the whole point is, there are faults with everything, look hard enough, there they are. its ones ability to see them as something that makes something unique and turn them to an advantage. Like the gs500, an almost bullet proof machine is great little bike for commuting on every single day, keep an eye on the oil, lube chain and other bits as required and all will be fine, 40k on one and it was still going strong with a total of 66k on the clock - you see the problem isn't the bike, but the user
so please paddy, don't right a machine if due to the fact you do not have the ability to care for it correctly, or have an inability to find the parts, or correctly carry out repairs, its not the machines fault, really it not. ____________________ Current rides - 2016 Triumph Street Triple Rx, 1994 Suzuki Bandit 400 VM, TGB 204 Classic 125cc

Pathetic little girl who can spell and string a sentence together, oh snap dawg.
The point has been missed however, OP do not buy a 400. |
yeh ok, please feel free to take the piss out of some one ability due to being dyslexic - way to be pro.
FYI, girls tend to have better language skill then there male counter parts, so being able to string a sentence together and spell goes hand in hand with having 2 X chromosomes, so pleas continue reinforce my point ____________________ Current rides - 2016 Triumph Street Triple Rx, 1994 Suzuki Bandit 400 VM, TGB 204 Classic 125cc

GS 500's are shit, the only redeeming factor is the cheapness of some spares, boring to ride, average on fuel (& oil funnily enough ), average on handling and just pretty much average all round.
My RXS 100 was a little worse on fuel but made up for it in dirt cheap tyres, insurance, tax and it was every bit as *practical* as a GS 500 whilst being also fun!
*I rode it 30 miles down the motorway to Catterick last winter with gear on the back for a weekend camping as well as my 3 day a week 46 mile commute to Uni, lower top end & poor pillion abilities aside it could still do it*
As for Bandit 400's and 400's in general they are turning into a niche market with parts going up in cost, spares availability going down & the mileages going ever higher on any that are affordable, not worth it especially if your on a budget hence why I ditched my old NC23 (amongst other reasons).
Would recommend going for an older 600 instead i.e. CBR/FZR or GSXR if you really want that style.
The above is IMO certified ____________________ Current: 02 FZS 1000 & 91 Royal Enfield Bullet 350 Some Bike Pics...
