Seeing the other thread about some of the horror stories people have had, I decided its time we praise the instructors and schools who have gone the extra mile for their pupils. Be it in patience, encouragement or all round just plain awesome. Thumbs Up

Lets help out the newer guys so they know who they can turn to when they need it Smile

Id like to raise a toast to my school 'Roadcraft Nottingham.'
Russ and the team have far exceeded my expectations of what it would have been like to learn to ride. I was daunted at first having never ridden. But after my CBT with Graham, I knew this was the future of my road adventures. Currently im doing my DAS on a Bandit 650 and its been more than a pleasure. Very helpful lessons with very little waiting at the roadside. Always on hand if you need something and never felt disheartened, even when I've quite obviously cocked up. Just brilliant. Thumbs Up

Thoroughly recommended if youre from around the east midlands.

Who has been yours?

Fantastic from start to finish, Adrian is a fantastic trainer with decent bikes, couldnt fault him or the whole experience in the slightest.

1 Stop Instruction over in Ilford, East London. https://www.1stopinstruction.com/

Took my CBT and DAS with them in 2012 and my wife has also done a back to biking session with them too. Great bunch of chaps, patient yet keen to get you through first time without dragging lessons on. Got me through the lot first time. Keep meaning to go back for their knee down school...

Salisbury Bike Training are amazing.
https://www.salisburybiketraining.moonfruit.com/

When my wife had a horrible soul destroying experience at Pheonix Bike Training in Romsey, i honestly thought she was put off for life, but when she needed to re-do her CBT, she used Salisbury Bike Training and Charlotte and freddie were just fantastic.

My wife returned with bucket loads of confidence and had a fantastic day.

When she is ready for her DAS, she will be going to them for sure!

Kickstart in Keynsham near Bristol. Really friendly bunch of people, incredibly laid back and made the whole process great fun.

I am in a quandary. I could put my school down but would I be raped for spam?

Instead I'll let Rideslikeanob put my school down and the reason we'd recommend my school is... we'll Rideslikeanob passed with our training.

And on cue, he doth arrive...

Kickstart Rider Training
https://kickstart-gosport.co.uk

What can I say, this is the one school I used and thought they did a great job. Instructors are firm but fair and know what they're doing (yes, even pinkyfloyd Wink ). Good mix of professionalism and always a nice relaxed atmosphere between stints on the bike. Great selection of bikes too, the Hornet in particular is an absolute beaut, passed my MOD1 on that (eventually). When I did my CBT I knew immediately that I'd be going back to get the full license with them, no hesitation. Prices are very reasonable, most other places I checked out or was recommended would have charged slightly more or a lot more. They never overbook so you always get the time you need, which was handy for me because I was not a quick learner.

So yeah, if you're based around southern Hampshire it's well worth the travel. They're there to make a good rider out of you if they can, not take your money, they genuinely want you to as decent a standard as you can manage so you pass sooner rather than later.

That do you pinky? Razz

Advantage Wimbledon, in ...... Wimbledon.

Got the Mrs through and she struggled a bit, very patient and helpful. Not the cheapest in the area, but did the job.

CamRider Hendon for any of you northwest london lot, did my CBT, training & tests with them. Instructors are a laugh and they really do put your nerves at rest. The teaching was great too and I learned a lot from them, when I go back in 2 years to go from A2 to DAS (escort to tests, dont think I'll need any more training maybe a brush up lesson) I'll deffo be going to these guys again.

I nearly went with them for my DAS, got put off a bit as they were trying to push us (me & a mate) to do a longer course. Also it was spread out, the training/tests which my pal didn't want.

Ah I see, yeah I preferred the spread out schedule style cause it gave me time to go practice what I'd learned on my 125, I took the shortest course possible (4 days) and it worked for me. I guess it's preference, but they shouldn't have been pushy. They did urge us to do a longer course here and there, and all the meanwhile through training suggested we should book an extra day, but I didn't need any of that and they were fine with it, in the end I showed them it wasn't necessary when I passed xD

Got me through both my CBT and then my DAS a few days later. Did the 3 day DAS course and passed both Mod 1 and Mod 2 on the same day. Can't fault them.

I went with AIM in Nottingham for a 2 hour pre test lesson to iron out any faults and found the instructor Bob really good.
I found Roadcraft on youtube and his videos really helped me.Russ is always answering noob questions in his comments too Smile
I imagine Roadcraft is very good but I just went with Aim because it was a short notice thing and nearer to where I live.
Don't think you'd go wrong with either.
Also I had a bit of training with Compass in Chesterfield on my cbt and cbt plus which I did for £15 just for a bit of extra training.
They are very good too but they did tests at Rotherham which was not really good for me.

A1 Motorcycle training in Gateshead and Newcastle.

I tried a couple of other schools in Newcastle (one for my CBT, and one for a couple of lessons) before I found A1.

They were significantly better than the other 2, having their own training yard, set up like the mod1 course, and being next door to the test centre, meant that you could practice until 10 minutes before the test.

They come highly recommended

Did my CBT with Probike motorcycle training Deeside North Wales. these guys are very good. Only reason I didn't use these for DAS was my Mrs got me vouchers for Arrow for Xmas.

Did my DAS with Arrow training Chester. They too are very good and I passed both mods first time.

Couldn't fault either of these firms. Only thing I would mention is 4 years ago when I did my training Probike had the use of a very good off road (tarmac) training area where as Arrow didn't so it was off to quiet side roads and car parks to practise slow manoeuvres. Not a problem for me but worth mentioning.

Thumbs Up

NFL near Wolverhampton. https://www.nfl-motorcycle.co.uk/

Two excellent and knowledgeable instructors, Aggy and Steve, reasonable prices and a good selection of bikes from 50cc to 600cc.

Did a CBT with them a few weeks ago on one of their ZZR600's and will be back for a Mod1 practice session soon.

Focus Rider training, Bury Lancashire (formally of Bolton)

Got me through my tests with plenty of cups of tea, helpful and friendly, One instructor called in at a dealership on his day off to look over a bike for me and advised not to buy it and the reasons why.

Another instructor came to view my current bike and ride it home for me (needed to fit restrictors)

website / Facebook for them is in my sig - no connection beyond happy customer.

Norton in worthing.
I know them through a facebook group which is very active due to large number of students passing, lots of rideouts of the fun, higher paced variety Laughing decent instructors that enjoy the job. Ive not done any training with them, my brother done CBT.

If a school is decent, it will probably have a similarly active facebook group though probably not official.

Avoid ART in Crawley.

RIDESAFE Bradford
https://www.ridesafe.net

I passed everything first time with the help of Rick. They have their own mod1 training area. Never had to share a bike. Usually 2:1 tuition got my money's worth with riding and they never forced more lessons than needed. Thanks guys
