Hello peep and peepesses,
Im wanting to get a tail tidy for my GSX650F, to take it from this hideous hunk of plastic:
https://s2.postimg.org/cg510bxwp/740184e0bb83a0122b4df7b438aac37f.jpg

To this tidy piece of ass (It does come with bracket for plate and indicators):

But Im curious, as the rear light changes completely, would I have to do some sort of re-wiring to get it to work. Or would it come with the correct wire attachment/fitting.

Ive never fitted a tidy before, so a bit nervous about cutting up my existing one to get this one fitted.

Probably will be some wire chopping and re crimping needed but shouldn't be too difficult.

Thought that might be the case, guess I'll have to find someone with some experience to help install it.

and blame if it fucks up, hehe.

I bought pretty much the same thing for my CBR - it was a case of snip and re-solder.

You just need a cheap soldering iron, some snips/wire strippers/cutters and about 10cm of heat shrink.

All available from Maplins / Ebay etc

If it's a part you might need to take off, consider bullet connectors or modern waterproof connectors rather than permantly soldering it all. Even better if you can re-use your existing lights connectors.

I would use a 'SuperSeal' connector and solder the wires on each side.

A 3-way should be enough for the stop/tail lamps - 5-way if you include the indicators.

Clicky

Where abouts are the indicators on that tail tidy? If they are the ones that are integrated into the rear lights AND makes the rear light flash red & orange when you indicate they are illegal. The main problem being at MOT time. Just bear it in mind...

OK Ok, I'm a boring old fart but
The existing lights are much more visible/sensible than
those 'sexy' looking ones.
The partially recessed rear lights have a much narrower field of of view than the original ones and
if the water clear led indicators are anything like the ones I had,
they're pretty useless in bright daylight.

As the whole point of rear lights is to inform other road users
of your presence and intentions, the new one reduce this effect and
if anyone doesn't see you brake or indicate prior to changing
speed or direction, it could be down to your choice of lights.
For me, its always function over form, not the other way round
and I'd go for 'in your face' stuff not pretty wee lights.

Yeah I know, but the old one is just so..........Plastic.
I have some indicators already which are bigger than those little ones.
And i've gone for the bulb version over the LED ones as i've heard they are a bit brighter on the brake lights (not sure how true that is).

I agree, I occasionally follow someone with a similar tail / light set up on my way home from work and they're not that easy to spot until you're nearly upon them, both filtering and flowing traffic.

What I found with those water clear yellow leds was they looked small and shiny off and just got a bit shinier when in use.
No contrast y'see?
I put yellow lens tape over them and found they caught the eye better in bright light when going from a dull orange to bright yellow.
