Flat, high, angled seat and very sparsely upholstered too. The clipons are also angled in more than any other bike I've rode too.
Superb bikes and easily the fastest 600 top end. Sadly totally gutless low down. Unlike the rest of the 600s it has a proper (pink) powerband. Not much fun when you're not on it, great fun for the other 10% of the time. ____________________ Triumph Daytona 675 track bike + girlfriend's Honda Hornet 600

I'm in the same position, but looking at a newish 600rr - I think.
I currently ride a 2012 CBR600F, which is a good bike - but I'm looking for more excitement and something quicker.
I don't mind the riding position, I rode an NC30 and din't have wrist problems, although that bike was smaller.
However, should I just jump to the Fireblade? Would I be disappointed with a 600 where I need to change gear more to get peak power?
The cost isn't too much of an issue, so happy to pay more for a litre bike. However as I've only been riding 2 years* I feel like I need to progress up the scale of bike power rather than jumping to a blade.
*Done over 12k miles, got rid of chicken strips and can keep up with the rest of em if it weren't for hitting the rev limiter! ____________________ Current: Kawasaki ZX636

Depends on the 600 I guess, obviously there's more to it than just engine size. For example, the XJ-6 has a detuned version of the R6 engine, so there's that similarity, but the differences abound beyond that, very different riding posture for example.
Though the XJ-6 is modest in terms of power delivery for a 600, I very rarely go full throttle with it. If I want faster power delivery it's usually just a case of dropping down a few gears and winding it open, apparently there's still enough on tap to wheelie but I'm not ready to test that theory.
Anyway what I'm saying is, riding style comes into it. If you push a good 600 hard enough there should be more than enough power, as mentioned it'll probably be more revvy than a thou would be but personally right now that works for me, maybe it'll work for you too. ____________________ .

IMO, the 636 you have is the better road bike.
The latest R6 is quite dominant on track as its ergonomics are perfect for it. Even me at 6'4 and 18st fully kitted find it easy to climb around on track.
It does lack any power below 10krpm though.
1000cc bikes make better road bikes. You will never make use of all the performance available, but, they are easier to live with for everyday use. ____________________ Suzuki GT250 x7------- Fazer 600------CB250RS------Aprilia Rally 70----- Bandit 600
