Here's how I'd value it.
Start with the average price of a 2006 CBF260.
Subtract £170 for one of the 2 frames + logbooks on eBay.
Subtract 1/3rd because they'll be write-offs.
Subtract another 1/3rd because it's got no history, is in km, the frame and engine numbers won't match, and it'll be a massive ongoing ball-ache to own, insure and sell on.
A cheeky offer would be to tell the chap you'll remove his liability from him for a surprisingly reasonable fee.
A reasonable offer would be to take it away it free and gratis. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

If the type approval no is stamped on the frame tag it /may/ be possible without contacting Honda??
Place I work used to occasionally import vehicles from the channel isles
Paperwork I used to have to take to DVLA local office (when they existed) used to include a certificate of conformity (CoC)...snigger
the bit they needed to see/know from looking at the CoC was the type approval number (starts E1* if I recall correctly)
Surely a photo or visual inspection of the plated approval info is enough info for them to fill in the form??
I guess now that local offices are no more its not going to be as straight forward to do
The amount of vehicles we get from Johnny foreigner dried up a while back so I'm out of touch
Calling DVLA could well lead you to a different answer to the problem each time you call
https://www.gov.uk/importing-vehicles-into-the-uk/vat-and-tax-vehicles-from-within-the-eu
has it all in black and white however for some bedtime reading...zzzzzzzzzz
Good luck
Regards

hasslehoff.
Frame/v5 off eBay and mph clocks/speedo drive preferably off the same bike.
Change engine number when you send off to get the logbook in your name.
Claim ignorance to all of the above when you sell it on. ____________________ Please be aware that the above post may be full of complete nonsense.

Right,
I ignored everyone's advice and bought it.
Its a 2006 CBF125 Mint mechanically but does have a scratch on the tank where a scooter handlebars were dropped on it.
Its got 2 good tyres and 6 months worth of UK MOT even with the foreign plate.
The guy had a Spanish MOT certificate from last year, and the Spanish equivalent of a logbook(v5), 2 keys, Spanish owners manual and thats it.
The Guy has completed the NOVA (Notification Of Vehicle Arrival) and no import tax is owed on the bike.
I have confirmed that i can get a COC from Honda for Free using the VIN and the DVLA have confirmed that once they have the COC they will issue me with a V5.
Seems too simple.
this is off the honda site:-
Certificate of Conformity
If your motorcycle is younger than June 2003 then you should be able to apply using your VIN for a COC (certificate of conformity) - these can be posted directly to you, there is no charge for this service. Please email us at customer.servicemc@honda-eu.com including your full VIN number and your address details. We expect these to be posted with 5-7 working days.
I pick it up in a few days and requested the import papers from the DVLA that will come in the post. I need to complete these and return with the COC and all should be fine and dandy

Crikey, that looks unused. The rain in Spain stayed mainly well away from that. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Right,
I now have nearly everything i need to register the bike.
1.) fill in application for v5 done
2.) Write cheque for £55 for registration fee and £38 for a years tax.
3) Provide Honda Certificate of conformity
4.) Provide copy of spanish V5
5) provide proof of NOVA (Notification of Vehicle Arrival)
6) Provide Proof import tax has been paid if required
Provide proof the bike has passed a UK MOT (yup 6 months ago)
Once the DVLA have received the above i will be getting a letter telling me that the Certificate of Conformity states that the bike is fine to be used on the R/H side of the road only and the clocks are in kph (this is waht it says on the certificate of conformity) bollocks!!!!
I will need to stick some MPH markers on the clocks and buy a deflector sticker for the headlight that will redirect the light slightly.
Once this is done i will have book a special partial vehicle inspection test at one of about 7 test centres in the UK so they can look at the clocks and say yes it shows MPH and Yes the headlight aim is fine.
This Test is £12.00 but............. the test centre is a long way away from me and i cant ride the bike until its passed the test. Bollocks.
So it looks like i will have to pop it in a van.
Thats where i am up to so far.............
My clocks currently in KPH only

My headlight which currently seems to have a light pattern that aims directly straight and not onto oncoming traffic.

Headlight Info...... What does this number mean?
