Can You Re-Prime An Aerosol Can?

I've got a large spray can of brake cleaner, over half full that won't spray....it just doesn't seem to have any pressure behind it. Does anyone know of a way to re-prime them somehow?

Yes.

I've soldered a Schrader Valve into the top on quite a few large spray cans.

You can then remove the core, pour a bit of whatever liquid you want to spray into it. Put the core back in and pump up (i use a bike pump) to about 100 psi*.

Works well.

I will post a pic later if I remember.

*I asked a guy that's a production manager at a factory that makes WD40 what pressure they use. He said it's around 100 psi ± 10 psi.

He did say he thinks thats a bit lower than most aerosols use though.

You can recharge them with lightergas refill quite well, you leak a bit of butane but be careful and it's fine.

I've recharged plenty of WD40 cans with £1 lighter gas refills before.

You could heat it with a blowlamp but it may well blow up and take your face off.

wd40 aerosols are silly. Pierce can and drain oil out into a suitable air pump spray bottle. Its also a lot cheaper to buy it in a bottle, and paraffin is even cheaper.

Brake cleaner probably not a great idea tho.

When WD40 cans get to the end it's best practice to stamp on the fucker until it works again is it not?

Even better when you create a small hole so it pisses out perfectly.

I thought this was the manly thing to do.
