When fully closed, throttle sticks, needs an extra bit of "oomph" to twist it open pas the sticking point. Otherwise it seems to ride fine.

What's the likely cause? I'm guessing there is some sort of springy thing, that makes the twisty thing shut the throttle off, and is snagging when its turned back to open it?

Push/pull throttle or just pull (1 cable)?

Got to be sticky cables or sticky throttle linkage (at the carbs).

You can lube the cables by making a hole in the corner of a freezer bag, push the cable through, tape/zip tie it up and fill the bag with oil then squeeze till it drips out the other end.

If it's the linkage then disassemble clean and lube it up I guess.

Might need a new spring.

@ qarka it's a two cable jobby

and yes, twist grip must have come off, as it has had replacement handlebars put on

so...

maybe the cable is just too tight?

I'll run it down the road to the local mechanic I use and ask them to do it

(and before anyone says, do it myself, no, just no Laughing I cannot be trusted with spanners)

edit: Stopped doing the sticky thing when I rode it. Got it looked at anyway, bit of grit or something in there, and cables now too tight with risers and new handlebars, adjustments to slack made as much as possible - will look at putting different throttle cables on, took vin numbers and will get back to me later today.

but it actually rode fine no problems.
