Will be looking to buy my next bike soon, not looking for a sports bike but a sports-tourer type thing would be good.

Used to like bandits but they bore the shit out of me to look at now. Something in between upright and sportsbike with good comfort for a pillion would be good.

Doing my DAS but only after something in the 600cc region.

Personal experience of the ZZR - budget for a new rear shock or look for one with an aftermarket already.

Best all round bike I've ever had. I've been to Scotland and Wales on it many times and it was perfect for the job.

I wouldn't fancy going to Scotland of my Fireblade.

I did my MOD2 test and training on the ER6 - I liked it.

If you can get one for 1.5k though, it'll probably be a dog.

Yeah the VFR is nice, I think I am hoping for too much with my budget.

I really like the naked, street fighterish look over sports bikes (big change from a year ago).

I'm 6 foot 4, so no restrictions as far as bike size goes. I mostly just want;

To be able to take a pillion have her not moan
To be comfortable
To be able to modify the bike
To not handle like a bus

I'd go for the ZZR1100 rather than the 600 personally.

The humping bunnies and AK-cat must bump the price up a bit though.

Was a ZX9R then. Felt like turning would be no problem as long as the turn radius wasn't far off 10degrees.

Not much help, but I managed to get CBR600F for not loads over a grand (from a fellow BCFer).

I supppse what I'm saying keep is an eye on the for sale section and see what comes up. I wasn't looking for a CBR, just needed a winter hack and hopefully a year or more cheap riding.

Been looking at bikes myself between 1500 and 2500 and at 1500 old zzr's cbr's seem the best unless you want an oldish fazer or bandit, which it seems you don't.
Once you get into the £1800-£2000 range the choice of bikes opens up a bit.
Z750 is a great bike.Have one myself but you're probably looking at 2k for a decent one.

Nah see Fazers I like, sporty with the option to remove the fairing and go for the sports naked look. Is sports naked a class of bike? If so, that's what I'm after.

Haters gonna hate, but that engine is lovely. It's producing sub 100bhp inline with a lot of the 600's you're looking at but it produces a really nice torque spread which makes it a pleasure to ride on the road.

Massive aftermarket support too, however it does worry me slightly that you've not even done your test yet one of the categories for buying a bike is to modify it
