Did you check the engine over? Could be the timing completely out or any number of things. How was it stored?

Has the sidestand switch been disconnected?

When I bought my FZR1000R this was one of the first parts into the bin and the wires were connected together.

Were there blanking plates or cloth stuck in the inlets or outlets to stop any moisture getting in?
If it isn't the sidestand wires/switch as Fizzer Thou suggested I'd check the timing and valve clearances.

If it's like most of the FZ(R) range, you cannot adjust the timing of the ignition.

Try new plugs. Many of my clunker renovations that had been stood for a while were pigs to start, new plugs seem to cure them 90% of the time.

How do you have the coils connected up? One should go to 1-4 and the other to 2-3 I believe.

Good call. IIRC left side coil is 1 & 4 right side 2 & 3 manual shouldhelp here.

It's not sidestand or TCI/ignitor related since you have a spark but is it in the right place ? Swapped leads would give the symptoms you describe I think.

Once you have it running check the valve clearances too - it should run better with these in spec.
