Hi all,
my brother is having some trouble with his headlight on the aforementioned motorbike. The wiring loom to the headlight keeps frying, with no obvious electrical short. Now, me and my dad both suspect that the voltage regulator is faulty. Is this an accurate diagnosis, or could something else be at fault? Any help is appreciated.

Cheers,
Tim

It may be a mixture of things. Check the switchgear is original and the alternator wires have not been bodged. Water in the headlamp shell won't help. You could test it to see if it blows when the lights are used.
If there's a regulator problem then check the battery voltage ...running and then not running, and disconnect the battery and check again.

If your bike uses a ballast resistor I'd check this first.

Also check engine earth and look inside indicators for water/ corrosion on the bulb pins......headlights as well. And......check there's no wiring frayed or trapped under the seat/ panels.

Cheers, I'll pass on this info to my brother

Cheers,
Tim
