I'm not sure where would be best to put this, but just had an email from Amazon with Bell M3R or M3X Helmets from £51 and M5's from £101. Also the M10 Flip up from £61. The M5 and M3 are 5 star sharp helmets.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/search/ref=pe_1075281_50883491_pe_ecg/?rh=i%3Aautomotive%2Cn%3A248877031%2Cn%3A%21248878031%2Cn%3A301311031%2Cn%3A303825031%2Cn%3A303875031%2Cp_89%3ABell%2Cp_6%3AA3P5ROKL5A1OLE&bbn=303875031&ie=UTF8

I've gone for one of these in Xl

Apparently it's the UV light that does it, so a year or so on a shelf in a box in a dark storeroom is not going to be an issue.

Thanks very much for this, I was after another helmet as my current full face one is past its best.

I went for this one,

https://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/91o%2Bo-e-oKL._SL1500_.jpg

Do they usually come with a tinted and non tinted visor or will I have to buy a clear one separately?

Cheers, O

They usually come with a clear I'd email and complain asking where your tinted one is though! Wink

Tinted Visors for these are £70 so fudge that, I did consider one but reviews are scarce and I don't fancy taking a punt, I must admit though the M5X designs are cool. Thumbs Up

Grabbed a pain white flip up for £60 down from £299. This will be my first helmet that should have cost more than £100. Thanks for the Linky!

Definitely need a new lid but don't want to buy without trying one on first. I think i will have to detour to a bike shop on the way home and see if i can try one on first.

Anyone know where these helmets retail at?

I'd love to get one as a spare, just not sure how the sizes compare to other brands.

Discontinuation sale. I can't find many reviews though and I'm dead keen on my current fluorescent helmet so I think I'll pass this time. Had they a fluoro one I'd not hesitate.

A few sites still have them at 200+
https://www.5-ways.co.uk/content/pages/shop/special-offers/Helmets/Helmets%20Full%20Faced/M3R/belm3mx4/1

https://stpmotosportdirect.store.buegle.com/product.php/3895912/

I think under dsr you should be able to return the helmet if it doesn't fit.

The sharp review of the m3r

MCN review says they suit AGV sized heads, i.e. more like a cube.

Do. Not. Want.

I had a chance to try on the whole Bell road range last year and they vary wildly, from model to model.

Some are soft, others feel like they're lined with bricks, most fitted in large or XL, one of them was better as a medium.

I was trying to get a guide to order a Moto 8 and I decided to go with XL; it's a bit tight and feels like it's never going to give, plus it's got a lump of granite pressing into the back of my neck, which gives me a headache after 20 minutes.

I'm going to try and get an XXL liner, but I certainly wouldn't buy another Bell without trying it first, far too risky.

I wouldn't want to get one without trying it on first... I also wouldn't want to order a helmet off the internet as god knows how well it'll be looked after between leaving the Amazon depot and you receiving it. Their usual courier is now Yodel I think, their reputation is pretty notorious, the drivers are paid fuck all so they care fuck all.

But if people are able to try on in a shop to determine its a good fit, then get much cheaper on the internet then good for them and a useful link.

How do you suppose stock is delivered to shops from the other side of the world?

It is pretty easy to tell if a box has been damaged in transit, regardless of what is inside. If it has, it will be going back, as would anything else ordered off the internet.

Oddly enough I believe stock is delivered from shops by the manufacturers who know how to pack the items safely but I could be wrong.

Royal Mail has been known to throw parcels into the truck and many a parcel I have had has been damaged. Yodel are worse. We've a lovely girl that delivers for Yodel in our area but I've seen the way she packs her car, yes car, not van and I have seen her turf stuff out of the car to get to parcels I have been waiting for.

Personally I would rather risk the shop bought ones in the hope they are packed and shipped safely than risk the ones I know for a fact have been shipped by companies who do misshandle goods.

From the other side of the world... most likely in a shipping container. Or less likely a ULD if air freighted. Probably packed fairly full as the more you can fit in the more economical it is, so less likely to be bouncing around in there.

I would have thought (and hoped) that helmet manufacturers and retailers will appreciate their delicacy and they're more likely to go to additional lengths to ensure safer transit. General couriers may be ignorant to the contents and its need for increased care. Maybe that's naivety on my part.

That's a really good deal, their helmets are great

Not sure about those exact models but I've had a carbon m4r for 3 odd years and it's by far the nicest helmet I've ever tried on. Light and comfy
