I rode all year round into my 50s, I just took a long time to learn I was being a dick and should use the car licence a bit more.

A lot of people just couldn't stand it, they ain't tough enough. So there are man points to be gained.

I collected man points for 2 full winters before getting a car on the road again. I'm a wimp now, but maybe one day I'll ditch the car and be a man again.

I gained 25 years of man points then over my winter riding time but you lose them all the first time you use soft toilet paper.

Would rather walk Wink

But, no matter how ugly it is, it beats the hell out of sliding down the road because of ice, that much I can say.

I've never understood the whole 'man points' thing etc - never seen it as much hassle because when I've been riding through winter, I've just sorted out the right kit so I don't get cold.

Often found myself overall warmer on the bike than in a car because I leave the house wearing a warm jacket, rather than getting in to a cold car and having to wait for that to heat up.

To transport bike bits of course. Or even better, a van (or clio lol) and you can take the bike with you. Cool

Fair play to you&your determination to be a hard bastard road warrior Instigator! Laughing

To the OP, nice move in getting your car licence and well done. That little runabout will be great for the winters, but not just that. The next time you need to pick up the dry cleaning, a garden table&chairs, or your re-decorating the house and need 10litres of paint/wallpaper etc.

That looks to be in very good cosmetic condition for a mid 90's Fiat, and if it's rust free, it will hold it's value a bit, as PPC type car nuts like these things for sticking in bike engines or making into cheap fwd track cars etc.

Oh and I like small light car's and for fun on a day to day basis they are much more satisfying and fun to drive than a big powerful sports saloon etc.

You can't beat a car during the winter.
I used to ride through the winters also but I hated sliding all over the place, the salt eating my bike and toffee knees I'd get with the freezing cold rides to work.

I found a bike beats a car, for the same reasons as in summer - I don't get stuck in traffic Smile.

As for the sliding - well, that's why to get decent tyres and add studs if you end up with hard packed snow.
Didn't get cold because I got appropriate kit, of course Smile.

ER6f in shed...
Audi S3 quattro on drive...
It's not rocket science.

One has a bose stereo, heated seats, climate control, xenon lights, wipers, dimming heated mirrors, ABS and ESP and will do 155mph.
The other has handlebars and will not.

Applies only to the areas where traffic is a problem. Where I live there is no traffic Razz

And if there's no traffic (including at any shops etc - I particularly dislike taking 4 wheels in to towns/cities), I'd certainly be considering taking the car instead of a bike in summer too.

Yup, what you need is one of these....

https://i832.photobucket.com/albums/zz250/grrthefearless/Brisky%20shots/SAM_0727.jpg

It's my wifes car but when I drive it I get so much attention from any
16-22 age group of girls I encounter on my travels because it's
'soooo cute' apparently and they 'luuuurve the colour'. Rolling Eyes
It's like having a puppy you can drive.
I've literally been approached by groups of young girls who want to
ask me about 'my' car.
When I'm actually in my own car which is in my opinion a way nicer car, nobody
pays the slightest bit of notice. Funny old world innit.
