However, I'd have been slightly more aware at that junction. Neutral

He must be a noob, so credulous, so careless, especially on water at night going to a busy junction believing he's gonna get through at that speed. Folded arms

Seemed like a long time between the 'shit' and the impact.
Long enough for a quick swerve.

Have to Rolling Eyes at the comment...

Trying to be fair, possibly wide angle lens make distance look greater. Recently installed dash-cam in car and that's the effect I get when comparing camera to what I can see.

However, on the video evidence, yes, and brakes, using brakes would help.

Although I dislike self important vlogger pricks that has shown, along with LondonCommuter's thread, has convinved me of the benefits of having a camera. Although I'll have one for the Sod's Law effect, if I have one I will not need it, don't fit and I'll wish I had.

Think he does brake, but it's the rear and he locks it up (I think I hear his rear slide after the "shit", might be wrong though). Doesn't seem to be using the front at all...

Concentrating on his speedo and not the road around him.

Speed cameras make the roads safer though, right?

When he slows it down at 4:17 you can clearly hear the wheel locking up. I think he braked at the appropriate time tbh.

Aye, it's not like you could sever your previously unsevered spinal cord or something. Rolling Eyes

And you'd be able to get up then? Laughing

" you'd know if something was fucked else you wouldn't be able to get up "

It's just another video where I think they are being overly dramatic when they could have bounced straight back up and stopped laying in the road like a tit when you know you're fine

yeah not meant too move if neck is injured etc no shit, again it'd hurt.

Not necessarily. Adrenaline and shock mask a lot of pain.

Agreed. Thumbs Up

Also, you could still be able to get up if you had a fractured vertebrae but, this could then lead to you damaging your spinal cord, which is bad.

Had a cyclist bring himself into A&E once, he was holding/supporting his head with both hands, as he had crashed, hurt his neck and felt something wasn't right.

When X-Rayed, it turned out that he had suffered what is known as a Hangman's Fracture. One move the wrong way could have been fatal.

First off, i feel for the guy as i do anyone who gets knocked off.

However, i do think chatting to his camera and checking revs/speed etc didnt help.

I do think riders kind of play up to the video.

Typical bad riding conditions for any biker.... wet, lots of reflections and glare, hard to differentiate between vehicles and lights etc etc

Without the helmet cam... would he have approached that junction at that speed?
Would he have been checking his instruments going into a busy junction with cars turning right across his path?

The answer is obviously no, which is why i don't own one :/

After all that he didn't even get to check if the camera would flash again! Sounds like it really wasn't his day.

On a positive note, the ambulance was there really quickly, fair play to them. No idea on what the average response times are like over here, but I'd certainly feel reassured that I'd be looked after if by the time I'd scrambled to my feet after an off, the ambulance was just arriving and ready to check everything over.

From the time anybody really even had time to call the emergency services to them actually arriving couldn't have been any more than 2 minutes. Pretty impressed tbh Smile.

Ya true, guy in the video was obviously fine though
I saw some guy slowly go over on his scooter braking at lights at probably 5 mph (somehow)

he just sat there in the road for some reason everyone was like omg call an ambulance spoke to him and he was fine was like, shall we get out the road? Shocked

I guess shock does that to some people...
I had turned around and went back for him as saw him go over in my mirror, was a while ago on the ybr

OP video shoulda been paying attention instead of talking to himself Razz

Owwww!
Feel sorry for the guy but as mentioned above,
better to concentrate on hazards than chat to the camera.
Its dark, its wet, we know car drivers are only partially aware
of bikes at best, so you really need to be on your game
at junctions.
Fuck the gear and rpm, you need to be checking out options
for when it goes wrong

I dealt with a spinal injury patient who broke their neck by fainting and hitting their head/neck on a sink in their bathroom. It's for that rare occasion like that that people are a little jumpy.

We're stupidly soft and fragile creatures.

Maybe he could have approached the junction a bit slower and maybe he was going a bit fast for the conditions but in the end it was another SMIDSY. I'm not sure he could have done anything except hit her.
