I had the tank off at the weekend to do the valve clearances and couldn't work out what the component I've circled in the attached photo is. It looks like it's something to do with oil, but beyond that I haven't got a clue.

Can anyone help? As you can tell I'm pretty new to this!

Thanks,

Steve.

Looks like identical lines and clips to my SV fuel lines

It might help to know make, model & year, but my guess is EGR Valve.

If not, part of the cooling system?

It's the Flux Capacitor. You just need to add in an uprated alternator to provide 1.21 gigawatts and you'll be fine.

Try not to go 88mph Thumbs Up

Unless of course it provides a vacuum that allows the fuel to flow...

It's a pair pump. It sends fresh air from the airbox into the exhaust port to introduce oxygen into the exhaust which will allow any un-spent hydrocarbons to burn.

The very small pipe is the vacuum signal which causes the pump to operate.
The one big pipe is the air feed from the airbox
The four smaller pipes connect to metal tubes that run one to each exhaust port.

It does nothing for the bike's performance or economy, it just reduces the amount of hydrocarbons (un-burnt fuel) that's sent out into the atmosphere.

Now that makes sense (although I was hoping it would be the flux capacitor!)

Thanks.
