both of my bikes KR1-S and VFR400 are now seriously fooked, KR1-s last month decided to blow up just after buying it and tonight coming home from work on my VFR (nc 24) the chain snapped at about 80mph taking the engine casing / Hydraulic clucth cover ripping all bolts out and Fracturing the bolt holes and to top it off the clutch rod bent and has bugered the seal so the engine is leaking oil from two areas.

Embarassed l think this maybe the end of my biking days for a long while Crying or Very sad

Told you NC24s are shit.

You might as well just cut your losses on those two, ebay them as is, spend the cash on a cb250 or something else fairly cheap and solid, and save up for something nice that works.

no problem with the bike just the crap "iris O ring chain" only done 600 miles on it and check slack and lube it this morring Mad might get a other engine for about £200 or l will flog it , no way l,m selling the KR1-S just brought all the bits for that and my cylinders are coming back from re-plating next week and its a classic bike l expect to keep for many years.

just dug my old mountain bike out of the shed that l have,nt used since l was 15, to use for work etc.

I had an iris chain on my nc24. It was 7 quid cheaper than the others. Did ok though.

I would advise against getting a spare engine for it. Just cut your losses.

Exactly the same has happened to my NC30, the cover bolt holes are bust, the clutch rod bent and the seal buggered. Seal was easy to replace, get it from Bat Motorcycles or Elliots, the Clutch rod I had a spare from another engine, but the bolt hole I've still not managed to sort out yet. You say it's leaking oil from 2 places, the Clutch rod seal and where else? Did the actual engine casing crack? if so the engine will need rebuilding or replacing.

the casing is also cracked, l brought the bike about 2 months ago for £900 and have spent about £300-400 on it (reg/chain&sprockets etc), l will probley just get rid off it for a few hundread it was the best nc24 l have ever seen very low mileage and was in mint condistion, looking at a honda four-hundread-four now

Join mine and Dr. Nick's Club, mine cost me £200 to fix, if its super serious just do what he did and buy a new engine.

Good luck with both mate, nothings more depressing than seeing a damaged bike in the garage.

Don't worry too much, should be able to be fixed without too much hassle and cost. Snapped chains are a bit of hassle, had one on a R6 go back in March this year in the fast lane on the M4 at interesting speeds. Nice Neutral

And at least it'll cost less to fix them both than it cost to fix the TL engine. Doh!

Maybe there should be a forum certificate for snapped chains?
