Cat taken residence in my man cave.

I have a nicely seedy workshop out the back. Due to weather and Christmas I haven't been out there for a few weeks. Thought it was getting a bit pongy but put that down to some good curry's.
Turns out that a stray cat has taken up residence. Nice little thing so don't want to go overboard on the violence front.
Anyone have any ideas how to dissuade it from settling in?

I'd suggest that you lob a cup's worth of cold water at it - after a couple of repetitions, it'll get the idea and move on. However, since it's quite cold at the moment, I can't help but wonder if that's cruel or not.

Call RSPCA? They might be able to come pick the stray up if it's a nuisance and take care of it. It's free so why not.

My Mrs Borg's moggies get a soaking when they go next door to tear up their garden (on my suggestion). Hasn't stopped them.

Cat litter is pretty cheap, and a purring cat can help put problems in perspective.

A stray or feral cat in a shed might be just avoiding the cold, then again it could be nesting, so possibly you should check that it's not pregnant, cos then you will be inundated with little blind bundles of mewling cuteness that you simply won't be able to bring yourself to drown in a bucket.

Is it letting you get close/stroke it/feed it?

OK. Phoned the RSPCA, they can't help, too many already. Council won't do anything, they only deal with stray dogs. It tends to come and go so I'm not sure what its up to.
While its brass monkeys I'll leave it be, I'm not that cold hearted, once it warms up though its due for eviction.

Oh yeah true forgot the RSPCA might kill it. I had a cat once, died of old age. Just take care of the cat then while it's in your man cave, put litter boxes out if you don't want it to shit all over your garage (nothing says the cat will actually shit in the litterbox though)
and feed it, you never know you might end up liking the little shit.

Yes, yes, yes, I'm the epitome of animal cruelty. Creatures and people only come to me to be crushed beneath the flaming iron-shod boot of my hatred for all living things.

Of course, I might have suggested a cupful of water on account of it being a big, easy thing for a cat to see coming that isn't inherently harmful, that it will want to avoid. I have yet to encounter the cat that's stupid enough to stand there and watch the water that's about to soak it hit its mark. I don't doubt that they exist, but any cat that's currently feral is likely to have sufficiently good reflexes to not get wet.

The most humane way (if you don't want to adopt said cat) would be to get some lion or any big cat poo from your local zoo. Spread it around outside said mancave & it'll never come back. Personally I love cats but due to my tenancy agreement aren't allowed one.

Are you able to secure the man cave to stop said moggy getting in, or is it hiding under the floor allowing dead rats to decompose...

If you secure man cave so the moggy can't get in, and you feel guilty.How about making a small cat cave? Chances are it'll turn it's nose up and sod off, but might just give the thing somewhere warm and dry to shelter...

How do you know it's a stray

My cat will walk through next doors bedroom window, lay on the bed curled up. Then when the neighbour walks in the room it rolls over and want's its belly rubbed rather than running off.

Maybe it's just a friendly cat with an owner, possibly might let the cat out for the day whilst at work maybe.

Not all cats with homes have collars too.

Another vote for let him chill in the man cave.
