First post, so treat me gently Wink

A month ago I found my tax disk holder had snapped, so I replaced it, along with the tax disk only to find this morning that the same has happened again. I had the first one mounted on the swingarm, the second one I mounted on the front mud gaurd screw. I'm guessing that vibration was the cause of the breakage rather than somebody nicking it, as the tax disk that was fitted expired over the weekend.

So the question is where is the best place to fit the damn thing? I have a CBR600, and I'm struggling to find any good locations to fit them as all the fairing bolts are inset. Comments appreciated from any other CBR6 owners.

For info, I've been using this motrax disk holder. I might try one of these these next, as the lug (where my two last ones broke) looks a bit stronger.

Hi, and welcome Smile

I always use the cheap stick on plastic beasties, 80p and they attach solidly to the inside of the screen making it damn near impossible to remove the holder and leave the disc in one piece without alot of hot water and careful peeling. Never lost a disc yet to either thieving or just general misplacement.

I always thought all those stick on ones had a slot on the back that allowed easy removal of the disk. I guess I thought wrong! I'll pop into the local halfords on the way home from work and have a nosey round.

Thanks.

Chances are that someone has been snapping them off and stealing your tax disc. A stolen tax disc is of no use to anyone these days as they use a database to check if a vehicle is taxed before they even stop it.

So why steal them? you may well ask. Because they are Fecking idiots, that is why.

Clear, sticky backed plastic. 60p per metre at all good hardware stores. The traditional place used to be stuck round the frame downtube or the fork leg before all these new-fangled holders came about.

Mine is stuck on the back of the numberplate, you can see it clearly if you know where to look.

My tax disc is also in my pocket, i used one of them clear plastic CD wallets and put it in it and taped up the edges.

It cannot be ripped now and it keeps it dry.

Thanks for the tips. I've got a stick on holder and put it behind the screen.

If this one goes missing, I'll know for sure that it's some little w**ker that keeps nicking them. Perhaps I should have added a few razor blades Twisted Evil
