Hello All

Due to my upcoming anal fisting.

I'm thinking of switching bikes, what would you recommend, I currently ride a Varadero that is nice but I would prefer something a bit less bulky for the commute. I was thinking:

A) CG 125 - I always wanted to own one of these since my CBT
B) NSR125 - Quite a bit of maintenance but I've got money and time
C) R1- 1000cc and just ride it like you mean it

My CG has been a reliable winter hack. Rough n ready but always starts, passed it's MOT easy too, it's only 34 years old.

I'm selling, you want it?

Varadero, excellent commuting weapon, wish I still had mine since the M60 is narrow lanes and speed limits for the next 3 years.

It's not that bulky.

What don't you like about the Varadero? Weight, width, height?

Just a thought, bear with me......

Say you get banned.

You do know that you aren't allowed to just take a cbt and hop on a 125 straight away right?

You 'serve' your ban, then you reapply for your provisional, then you retake your cbt.

So, your shiny 125 just sits there for the 7 years that you aren't allowed a licence.......

I'd only expect such leniency if pleading guilty to all charges. Sad

PDG thankfully I'm familiar with the ban process should such situation occur. I'm just hoping I will not be banned for multiple years, dress smart, prepare a decent well mannered speech and hope for the best.

I seriously doubt any bike I would buy will look remotely "shiny"

Weight is good, height is great It's just its a bit too wide and the wing mirrors/handle bars always seem to be perfect car wing-mirror height.

Seems like a bit of an extreme solution for a simple problem. As SQL said, fit lower bars & buy mirrors similar to these

Hi,
im currently commuting (well, when its not snowing heavy) on NSR 125 & have had no problems.
i have found it better "put together" than any of the other 2 stroke "race replicas" & i have commuted in some silly temps (like minus 16 Twisted Evil ) on mitos & rs's.
it has a better reputation for reliabilty than the other "race replica" 125's. ( & parts are cheaper too)
get a decent nsr, thats not been "modified" or has any silly tat on it.
ie. as original as possible & in original colours. though an aftermarket exhaust is a welcome bonus.
whether its restricted or not? whos gonna be able to tell? only way is to stick the bike on a dyno.
& unless the power is on the v5 & YOU derestrict it, its not gonna kill any kittens is it? (not that i would encourage riding outwith conditions of licence Cool
look after it & when it becomes time to sell, you wont lose any money. (might even make a profit, seeing as prices are beginning to creep up)

but given the choice, i'd take a varadero over any of the 2 strokes, purely for commuting. simply because of the seating position ( i miss my ccm r30) & 4t reliability & i would keep my 2 strokes for fun but finances & lack of space wont let me have another bike (i have 5 already)
probably wouldnt consider any other 4t 125, apart from maybe the hyosung gt but wary of spares availability.

cheers,
GAZ

There's a wr125 for sale in a different thread that may suit you. It's more or less new and even has a shortened wheelbase to make it more manoeuvrable in towns...

Commuting around Birmingham City Centre yesterday on the Varadero - high winds, heavy traffic, roadworks, even thick snow at one point. I'm not used to those conditions, but the Vara was a breeze!

Ah, the constant quest to make the mighty weapon between your thighs narrower.

I've got narrower bars on both bikes and am pondering bicycle bars.
