Hi
I've had an issue with the front brake master cylinder on my 1991 FZ750 despite renewing the seals etc. I just cannot get the system to firm up and I think the bore within the unit may be scored and allowing air in.
I would love a Brembo or similar replacement but at £250 its not really an option so wondered if anyone had an thoughts or experience of these - at the end of the day nearly everything you buy now is made in China!

Many Thanks

Try for a used OEM one and rebuild kit. I had one of those Chinese ones (same main bit and reservoir, slightly different lever), it was ok for a week after that it began to let air in the system due to poor sealing. They cost a few pounds in China if you want an idea of the quality you are buying.

Are you sure the M/C is knackered? On my ZZR I went through 2 caliper rebuilds, 3 M/C's and rebuilds just to finally out of desperation/process of elimination swap the goodridge braided lines back to the crappy OEM ones and then ended up with perfect brakes!

When I first bought my Exup 1000 I preferred the look of master cylinders with a remote reservoir and so got hold of both the brake and the clutch items from a ZXR750R and they work perfectly

The adjustable span levers are a real bonus.

The master cylinders from a YZF750R are also the same Wink

Would you really trust your life to a £30 part from ebay made in china?

Edit:- Fucking hell I just realised you get both master cylinders for £30!!!
I wouldn't touch with a bargepole.

Many people do, unwittingly.

I'd echo wr's comment about not leaping to assumptions. Have you had the rebuild M/C apart again to check that the new seals haven't given out? That just happened to me with a "new" rebuild kit that I suspect had been sitting around dry for years.

The mistake most people make when bleeding brakes is not properly bleeding the master cylinder itself. If I were a betting man, I would wager that is your problem.

Quite a few wise words guys. The bike had been sitting for 5 years before I started a refurb. New Calipers were required and yes it does have braided hose so maybe worth changing them as well. I also like the look of those Kawasaki items - may see if any are available on eBay!

Is it any different to buying a Chinese made bike with Chinese made brake parts fitted?

Anyways, don't think I would do it.
