Broken indicators

My bike slipped on it's side and the front right indicator bulb broke and I lost the cover for the rear indicator. The problem is that when I indicate right the light doesn't blink, it just stays on at the back.

Is it normal for the rear to stop blinking if there is no bulb in the front?

I have bought new indicators but is it likely that I'll need new resistors or relays?

Once the bulb is back in the front it will be fine.

Another common symptom is it could blink twice as fast.

The type of flasher unit you have, depends on load to operate - so one bulb isn't enough to make it flash.

You would need to change the flasher unit for an electronic type, if you wanted it to work with a single bulb or LED's.

While I wait for the new indicators to come I think I will buy a bulb and try finding an orange sweet wrapper to tape over.

You can buy orange bulbs for indicators
