Now, some of you may be aware i bought, well basically got given a Bandit 2 years ago, i fiddled with it an got it going all for about 400 miles to then have it cough & fart an basically stop working.

The symptoms the bike had when i put it away last year were.

a misfire on 4th cylinder an occasionally on 2nd cylinder, sooty plugs etc with erratic idling

This year i aim to get the beast working like a "normal" bike.

i have already....

refitted factory exhaust, new coils, plugs & caps, air filter, inlet o rings, new tank, valve clearances and....

...cleaned the carbs - god knows how many times using compressor & following pete's guide an reset to factory spec

Now there's nothing to say something i have done isnt causing it, but i dont want to shell out more wonger on a dead horse.

Any ideas where i should be attacking first?

fanks

Generally accepted practice is to remove all of the plugs and crank.

Would be good if you could stop fuel and sparks too.

Is it a nice house?

Also, a compression test tells you everything these days, even why your headlight bulb keeps blowing.

cleaning carbs with just compressed air is not going to work. You need some sort of solvent to get to work on the jets.

Or, you could poke a bit of wire through the jets to clear them out....

Don't do that

If you do the compression test, do it with the throttle fully open.

Did you do anything with the mixtures?

Did you check the condition of the diaphragms in the carbs end condition of the needles?

Clean the carbs properly.

My Bandit ran similar. It has some silly problem where it just leaked from the cylinders...
