Bandit 1200 wont start

Hi All, I have read a few articles on this issue I have but would like your opinion please.

I have a Bandit 1200 2006 the bike was running fine last week, I had a week off so the bike wasnt ridden to work, went to start it monday morning and no go?
The engine didnt turn over, the head light went dim when I hit the starter button but nothing didnt even turn over.
I have bought a new battery and fully charged it put the new battery on but still the same issue.
I have tried to bump start it but this didnt work either.
I have read about the clutch switch and side stand switch, the side stand switch I believe will only cut the engine when the bike is put in gear so I dont think this is the issue.
Is there a way I can bypass these clutch / side stand controls to see if the starter moter is shot?

First off find the starter solenoid and bridge the heavy terminals. If the starter now turns it's not at fault.

Did the engine turn over when you tried to bump start it?

I think it sounds more like a starter motor problem, so can you feel the starter motor and the wire that goes between the starter solenoid and the starter motor - are they getting hot when you press the start button?

If you have a multi-meter, try checking the battery voltage before and after trying to start the bike, and let us know what readings you get.

Excuse my ignorance but how would I bridge the solenoid? Positive from the battery to the positive on the solenoid?

Also it did sound like the motor turned over when I tried to bump it.

Someone did suggest if the float bowls are overflowing this will fill the barrels preventing it to start or temporarily locking the engine?

Use a jump lead, go direct from battery positive to the terminal on the starter motor.

If the starter still doesnt turn, give it a whack with a hammer and try again.

Well got home today tried to start my bike again started first time!?
I believe it was a loose connection on the clutch switch, pulled off the connectors gave them a clean and pushed back on started first time every time,
Really annoyed that I didn't read up on this first before having to commute to London on a train the last few days. Anyway back on the old girl in the morning .
