Quick tyre question - tyre leader prices? Old tyres?

Hi all,

Will be ordering some new rubber for the hornet soon - has anyone used 'Tyre leader'?

When searching for my size there are 2 options called Pilot road 3's, the only difference being the more expensive one has a 'DOT 2011' mark.

I take I ignore this one and just buy the cheaper ones?

What's interesting is that for a set of PR3's costs £165.78

PR4's cost £180.

£15 Quid difference. I would get the PR4's but have heard they have a harder compound to last longer, I think I'd prefer them slightly softer - not really sure.

Any ideas - and how's tyre leaders delivery?

Can't grumble at those prices though.

So are they selling the older tyres for more money?

Or are the ones which dont advertise their manufacture date even older?

Tyres are date-stamped with the week and year of manufacture in a little oval area on the side wall.

ive used these a few times

delivery can be a week but normally 3 days and trackable all the way

my tyres were only about 12months old so not too bad

I've had no problems with Oponeo, all the tyres I've ordered are <6 months old. Fit them myself for extra cheapness.

I'd check with your local mechanic if he's prepared to fit tyres he hasn't supplied. Some will, some won't 'because of the insurance'.

Ordered my MSX winter tyres from oponeo. Arrived after a few days with no problems. Would use them again

Last set of tyres I bought new were BT023's and they were £208 fitted to loose wheels. They had just come out at the time too. I don't know where you guys all get these quotes from but they seem v expensive.

Tyres just turned up from OPONEO.

DOT codes are 1813 so that's about April 2013 and 1014 so March 2014. Under 2 years old just like they say and I am more than happy with that.

All good really. Paid with PayPal, delivered by DPD who have that live tracking thing going on and if you give them a mobile number they txt updates.
