Given the plug is colder, it may well foul easier as it struggles to get hot enough to self clean / burn off.

I'd look at the state of the plugs that came out. If they are tan, or even show signs of overheating / blistering, then bumping 1 in the heat range would probably be ok.

If the plugs are already black / oily, then I wouldn't use the 9.

with ngk, a higher number means a cooler plug, ie gets rid of more heat........champion ( wtf are they these days ) its opposite.

Excellent plugs, especially for fine tuning the two smokes as they've got stuff that'd equate to an 8.5 and simmilar in NGK heat gradings.

Should be fine running them in the summer, winter you might want to swap back to the 8's though.
