OK picked up new bike today - Derbi Terra 125
Really nice bike, got it at a good price 900 just one fault what I know about ATM
Apart from melted light housing and slack chain.

The dash lights are illuminating when they shouldn't be.
All indicators,lights work fine,neutral.

For example knock my indicator on and I have got to physically check it's on and off, bodywork on the bike makes it pretty difficult.
Fuel light is on majority of time when tanks full.

Seller was honest and open about this, and said it passed last mot.

Also if it helps the seller told me it started doing this after installing new battery, also at then time the mileage reset.

I've took a few photos to help explain

After further investigating earth lead (yellow) came off, just unwrapped. Voltage 12.3v engine cold. 13.6v when fired up
Stuck optimate on overnight.

Hold start button and fires up after 2 seconds(is this right,Ive come from fuel injection ,where I normally just press once)
Bike as only done around 800 miles in two years!!!

Really would appricaite yoir knowledge this site has!!!
Beers and kudos to people who help!!!!

Got a multimeter also but its a cheap crappy one.
And I've squirted a few connections with wd40 to see if it would help...

First thing to do is sort out the battery earth terminal connector....It's shit and has trouble written all over it. The green & yellow wire that's also attached to the earth terminal doesn't appear to be original though I could be wrong as I'm not familiar with this machine. It looks like a piece of multi-strand wire that would normally be found in domestic wiring. Why has it been added?
Sort out those items first and then take things from there.

Derbi do use yellow/green for ground so thats right, but the
blue eyelet terminal is obviously wrong.
You need a bigger (yellow) one and fitted tidily.
That shabby ground connection isnt your problem though
Re all the idiot lights coming on.
The melted light housing you mentioned may have something to do with it unless a PO has been 'improving' it and made a right mess of it.
You need to get in there and have a look and at least take pics.

It's pretty obvious that someone has been messing with the wiring, but a couple of good clues here, are the mileage re-setting itself and the melted wiring!

I think that suggests that the system voltage has gone excessively high at some point, so you need to do a full check of the alternator windings and the reg/rec - as well as all of the repairs that might have been done.

Check all of the fuse values aswell - it's not unusual for tinkerers to replace them with higher rated ones if they can't find the cause of them blowing.

I would even consider trying to find a replacement wiring harness, as I had to do this once for a car that had been bodged beyond help - saved a lot of time and brain-ache.

Without seeing pics it's difficult to tell but melted light housings are often the result of incorrect bulbs being used in order to boost available light.
