My ducati mirrors had lost half their reflective backing so I got an acrylic mirror sheet to laser cut some new ones.

The old glass mirrors were stuck in using this really sticky, stretchy, black stuff and I would use it again if I knew what it was called. Does anyone know what it's called or how would you stick a mirror back into it's holder which has only two small flat ledges at either side of the holder for mounting the glass?

I imagine the black stuff was also a good shock absorber to reduce vibration so I want whatever substitute I use to do the same.

EDIT:
It was like this:

3m VHB double sided foam tape would do the trick.

Just don't expect to get them off again once fitted. Ever. make sure they are exactly where and how you want them before pressing them on.

I have three, 1" long pieces of this sticking a mast foot to the bottom of my canoe, you can lift the whole 30kg boat up off the ground by it.
