I would just flat the high spots off it to prevent hot spots causing det, possibly a broken ring at some point?
dremel with a fine grade flap wheel maybe good but go easy with it

I'd leave it. Happened a while ago. Obviously been running ok since.

When I've had similar damage (usually caused by an errant small-end needle bearing). I've tapped down the high-spots in the alloy with a small ball-pein hammer.

To sand off enough material to shift that lot, you're going to significantly increase the squish. which means skimming the head down. Where do you stop? (obviously, when the plug hits the piston... but you know what I mean)

got the dremel out and smoothed it off, no ridges and polished off with some autosol.
